Carried wider on the track passing the 200m by COGNAC (NZ), which laid out under pressure. When questioned regarding SAVAGAL racing further forward in today’s event, Jockey J Orman stated that after being caught wide in the early stages, allowed his mount to improve to take up a position outside the lead. He added that his mount travelled well throughout the event but when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey L Dittman stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the race and felt awkward in its action in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with stable regarding the post race recovery of the horse in the days subsequent.
