Rdr explained asked to settle gelding with cover-said from wide draw, felt would have been obliged to race wide without cover, therefore elected to steady to find cover at rear approaching 1600m-added not intention to settle that far back, however was able to make ground during the course of the race to be in mid position approaching the 600m-further added, was of the view gelding is best suited to being ridden in this manner. Tnr confirmed instructs & added not intended to lead last start but to settle back off pace. Tnr reminded of obligations to advise of any proposed change of tactics

When quest re riding of gelding from 500m until 350m, Rdr explained when attempting to get to outside of heels near 500m, horse commenced to lay out as it rounded h/turn, carrying another runner wider-said it was not intention to race as wide as did at that point & was not aware had left room enough for runners to improve on inside. Consequently, favourite then shifted out into run presented.. Rdr reminded of obligations re control of mounts & leave no room for query about ride.
