Began awkwardly. Jockey J Stanley reported the gelding raced ungenerously throughout the event and was inclined to lay out from approaching the home turn. Jockey Stanley added that as a result of feeling awkward in its action he elected not to pressure the gelding over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer O Cairns advised that in light of today’s performance the gelding would now be spelled.
