Kiwi Pacers Join Brisbane Stables

A trio of talented New Zealand pacers has joined prominent Brisbane stables.

Canterbury pacer Run Boy Run has been snapped up by in-form owner Craig Whiteoak and will send his latest recruit to the stables of Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen.

Whiteoak was in the winner’s circle last weekend when Some Excusesomewhere scored a dominant victory in the TAB Pace at Albion Park.

The Somebeachsomewhere gelding has now recorded back to back Albion Park victories following his career best effort (1:52.9) two starts ago.

Run Boy Run is the winner of 7 races from 32 starts to date and is a last start runner-up behind Baileys Knight in the Akaroa Cup on December 9.

Two starts ago in the Green Mile at Methven on the grass, he finished fourth behind proven Gr.1 winner A G’s White Socks.

The American Ideal five-year-old gelding was previously prepared by Mitchell Kerr.

Meanwhile, leading owner Rob Essex has purchased Cool Scooter and the four-year-old now heads to the stables of Kelli Dawson.

Cool Scooter is a son of champion sire Mach Three and built up an impressive record of 3 wins from 10 starts to date.

Two starts ago, he scored a solid victory at Wyndham over 2400m.

Essex, a longtime owner of harness horses while preparing a team of greyhounds, has raced several smart types over the years.

The majority of the Essex owned horses carry the moniker of ‘Maywyn’ and his best performer is Maywyn Jasper who won the 2010 Gr.1 $100,000 Australian Pacing Gold 3yo Final at TABCORP Park, Menangle defeating For A Reason in a time of 1:52.7.

Some of the better performed ‘Maywyn/s’ pacers over the years include Jasper, Tonz, Best, Courage, Storm, Zephyr, Gold and Zac among many others.

Both Run Boy Run and Cool Scooter were sold through respected agent Stu Valentine.

Regally bred three-year-old filly Tuapeka Light has joined the stables of Kylie Rasmussen and Darren Weeks.

Ranking as a half-sister to the talented Culpeka, the filly hails from a stout pedigree with relatives including Machtu, Hes Tight Lipped, The Neptunes Lady, Ima Sea Storm and Wave Runner among others.

It’s the Maureens Dream family.

The maiden filly has raced only four times.

At her most recent start, she finished third behind Allaboutdreams at Invercargill on November 23.
