Race 1: ARABON SEAFOODS & GRANDVIEW HOTEL BOWEN BM50 HANDICAP 1000m
 
RAINING DOLLARS – Was slowly away.
 
MISHANI LA SCALA – Shifted out abruptly on jumping away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ANNE CATHERINE – Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained off heels when racing ungenerously near the 600m.
 
HE’S TERRYFIED – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DOUBLE FORTUNE - Raced wide for the majority.
 
RAGNAR LODBROK – Hung out in the middle and latter stages placing Jockey P Cullen at a disadvantage. Nonetheless Jockey Cullen was reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A for his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
Race 2: BROWNS MILK SUPPLY & BROWNS BP MERINDA BM60 HANDICAP 1280m
 
BELORUM - Was slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
HOT TEMPO – Was slowly into stride. Was restrained around the heels of another runner near the 800m.
 
SUNNY CHIEF - Was slowly into stride.
 
PREMIER PALACE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 3: ABBOT POINT OPERATIONS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1280m
 
DRUMEOUS - Was backing up after racing at Townsville the previous day and was examined pre-race by the Veterinarian and was cleared to start. Raced ungenerously for some distance after being severely hampered near the 1000m.
 
DAESY DANORO - Was slowly into stride.
 
JINGAS – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
MIGHTY MEERKAT - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
HOSTILE LILY – Was checked and taken in by another runner near the 1000m. Shifted in near the 800m placing another runner in restricted room for a short distance. Jockey P Cullen was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).
 
NAUGHTY CORNER – Was hampered near the 800m when placed in restricted room by another runner which shifted in.
 
At a Stewards inquiry into an incident which occurred near the 1000m Jockey Ms. C Jokic pleaded guilty to careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that approaching that point of the race she directed her mount ROCKET’N’RUBY inwards when insufficiently clear of HOSTILE LILY (P Cullen) resulting in that mare being checked, and in turn being taken in onto the running of DRUMEOUS (Ms. K Aho) which was severely hampered. After taking into account Ms. Jokic’s forthright evidence, guilty plea and her good record in relation to the rule Stewards suspended her licence to ride in races for a period of 8 days to commence at midnight Thursday October 18th 2018 up to and including midnight Friday October 26th 2018. Ms. Jokic was advised of her right of review.
 
Race 4: XXXX LION NATHAN & QUEENS BEACH HOTEL BOWEN BATTLERS CUP HANDICAP 1470m
 
IT AND A BIT – Was slowly away. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
UNDER THE WEATHER – Raced ungenerously for a short distance when crossed by another runner near the 1300m.
 
MR BOXVALE – Raced ungenerously for a considerable distance in the middle stages. Trainer’s Representative Ms. J Doolan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
FRISKIER – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: INDUSTRY FIRE SERVICES BOWEN CUP BM65 HANDICAP 1810m
 
HIERARCHAL - Was slowly into stride.
 
SLADE AMIGOS - Jockey Ms. B Thomson advised the gelding had a tendency to lay out in running. Nonetheless Jockey Thomson was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR137A for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
CAPTAINS WAY – Was disappointed when attempting a marginal run near the 200m.
