Race 1: COMPACT TRAINING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1660M
THE CANDY MAN – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground.
ZABRING – Hampered on jumping between SOGNI, which shifted out, and CLASSY JANA, which shifted in. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
REWA LAD – Hampered on jumping between SOGNI, which shifted out, and CLASSY JANA, which shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide after passing the 800m.
STAMEN – Bumped on jumping.
CLASSY JANA – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
RABBIOSA – Began awkwardly. Got its head up and overraced in the middle stages. Raced in restricted room approaching the 400m and was held up until entering the home straight.
MISSY MUSKETEER – Improved on to heels passing the 300m and had to be shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running.
Race 2: DIRECT DISTRIBUTION MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
HEAVENLY JOURNEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MIGHTY MOOSE – Got its head up and overraced when positioned outside the leader in the early stages. Became unbalanced rounding the home turn when bumped on the hind quarters by FISH ON, which shifted out to improve.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.
Race 3: NAT MCCALL RACING C,G&E CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1110M
AJANI – Initially bumped by AIRACOBRA, which laid inwards, passing the 1000m and as a result made contact with the hind quarters of that runner, which was turned inwards, resulting in AJANI having to be checked and losing ground when tightened for room. As a result, AJANI was taken inwards, tightening KNOCK TOFF.
KNOCK TOFF – Tightened for room and lost ground passing the 1000m when AJANI was taken inwards by AIRACOBRA.
AIRACOBRA – Resented being restrained away from heels when in a trailing position passing the 800m.
Race 4: PURPLE COW REAL ESTATE CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M
R. Maloney was dislodged from the winner THE SOCIALIST when that runner blundered after passing the winning post. After being attended to by ambulance officials, jockey Maloney was transported to hospital. As jockey Maloney was unable to weigh in, acting under the provisions of AR. 142 stewards declared correct weight. Riding replacements for jockey Maloney’s engagements in Races 5, 6 and 8 were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
COUNT CUMANI – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 900m.
RED PHANTOM – Bumped on jumping.
PERFECT AIM – Bumped on jumping. Laid outwards in the straight.
Following the running of this event the track was further upgraded to GOOD 4.
Race 5: SHAPE CONSULTING QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
The start of this race was delayed to allow the arrival on course of a replacement ambulance due to jockey R. Maloney being transported to hospital following Race 4.
Stewards accepted trainer B. Baldwin’s explanation for the late declaration of T. Harrison as the rider of ALMONDELLA.
DANETIST – Commenced to lay out after passing the 500m and did so for the remainder of the event.
PAY WITH CASH – Slow to begin and was then hampered shortly after. Rider elected to shift three wide to improve when the pace slackened passing the 900m before obtaining a position in the lead passing the 600m. Had a tendency to lay out under pressure over the final 100m.
BRAHMA ARMOUR – Commenced to overrace and got its head up when the pace slackened passing the 900m and had to be restrained away from heels. Lost the near fore plate in running.
CHRISTMAS CREEK – Began awkwardly.
HIBACHI MISS – Began awkwardly.
VICTORY LINER – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost considerable ground. Had to be steadied away from the heels of DANETIST passing the 300m when that runner laid out abruptly.
ALMONDELLA – Commenced to overrace and got its head up when the pace slackened passing the 900m and had to be restrained away from heels.
Race 6: SKILLED UP CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1660M
BOOM BOOM EPIC – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m, placing the rider at some disadvantage.
LE JUGE – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 1000m.
SWEET ADALINE – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 1000m.
ABERLADY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 7: BESST RECRUITMENT F&M CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1110M
SKATE TO PARIS – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
SATYRICON – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Had some difficulty securing clear running from after passing the 300m until approaching the 150m.
WHISKEY SHOOTER – Bumped heavily and hampered on jumping.
SHE’S SPICY – Lost the near hind plate in running.
TOUJOURS L’AMOUR – Held up rounding the home turn. Lost the near fore plate in running.
HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Slow into stride. Had to alter course back to the inside approaching the 100m to obtain clear running.
THE BUMBLEBEE – Overraced whilst in the lead in the early and middle stages. Bumped by IN HER ZONE passing the 300m when that runner laid in.
IN HER ZONE – Laid in passing the 300m and bumped THE BUMBLEBEE.
SONA DANCER – Bumped on jumping.
Race 8: ICANIWILL CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M
The start of this race was delayed significantly when RICH AFFAIR was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.
After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, B. Thornton, the rider of COOL SEQUENCE, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against DREAM MASTER (R. Stewart) being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that inside the final 100m DREAM MASTER commenced to lay out and approaching the finish line made slight contact with COOL SEQUENCE, which was carried out marginally. However, after taking into account the degree of interference to COOL SEQUENCE, its proximity to the winning post and the margin separating both runners at the finish, stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
COOL SEQUENCE – Bumped slightly approaching the winning post.
RICH AFFAIR – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Connections were advised that the gelding will be required to trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again. Raced in restricted room passing the 1100m and had to be steadied and then shortly after commenced to overrace and had to be steadied away from heels on a number of occasions.
DEITCH – Began awkwardly. Had to be checked approaching the 1000m when tightened for room by COOL SEQUENCE, which laid in.
DREAM MASTER – Laid outwards over the final 50m, making slight contact with COOL SEQUENCE approaching the winning post. R. Stewart was reminded of his obligations when his mounts shift ground.
ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY – Brushed the running rail on a number of occasions when racing in restricted room passing the 1000m.
SI SI SEQUALO – Laid in after passing the 1100m, tightening runners to the inside. Raced three wide throughout.
