Race 1: KIRIN BENCHMARK 90 H’CAP – 1200M
 
PEACOCK – Raced three wide throughout.
 
BEL BURGESS – Slow to begin.
 
BOLD CHANCE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
EF TROOP – When questioned, jockey J. Lloyd stated that he had to work hard after being caught wide in the early stages and when placed under pressure in the straight the gelding failed to respond. Trainer T. Gollan advised stewards that it was now his intention to space the gelding’s runs as he believed the horse may be better suited racing fresh. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SONY LEGEND – Raced three wide throughout. Held up in the early part of the home straight and near the 300m had to be checked after improving up on to the heels of BOLD CHANCE. When asked to comment, jockey L. Cassidy stated that he had improved rounding the turn into the home straight and he had hoped to come to the outside of BOLD CHANCE, however, when BOLD CHANCE weakened quickly and he was unable to obtain a run to its outside, he had to check his mount, resulting in it losing ground.
 
HINGUS ROSE – Reared at the start and lost some ground.
 
STELLA OMBRA – Held up in the early part of the home straight and then near the 300m became awkward when racing in restricted room between NOBLE BOY, which was attempting to come to the outside of HINGUS ROSE, and EF TROOP. J. McDonald, the rider of NOBLE BOY, was reprimanded.
 
OF THE DAY – Overraced in the early stages.
 
BEAU ARROW – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 2: LED SUPERSCREENS CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1400M
 
AQUA VITE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
NO ANNAMOSSITY – Commenced to overrace near the 800m when the pace steadied. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near fore fetlock.
 
MAGNUFIGHTER – Raced wide throughout without cover until the 800m and then obtained cover on the back of AQUA VITE.
 
SNITCH – Held up making the turn into the straight.
 
CHALMERS – Raced four wide throughout.
 
GREYWOLF – Commenced to overrace near the 800m when the pace steadied.
 
ZIP A DEE DOO DAH – Restrained at the start to gain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Had difficulty obtaining clear running making the turn into the straight and in the early part of the straight.
 
SOFIE’S GOLD CLASS – Unable to secure clear running between the 400m and the 200m.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced near the 550m.
 
ANGEL DANE – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace near the 800m when the pace steadied. Held up and unable to improve between the 550m and the 400m.
 
Race 3: MULLINS GRAND PRIX STAKES – 2200M
 
TRUSTY LAD – Hampered soon after the start.
 
VOW AND DECLARE – Shifted in at the start and bumped FUJI FURY heavily. Commenced to pull hard passing the 1500m and near the 1400m was taken three wide trailing FUJI FURY.
 
LORD ARTHUR – When questioned, jockey J. McDonald said that the pace of the race did not suit the colt and it failed to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
FUJI FURY – Bumped heavily at the start. Had to be checked after travelling a short distance when tightened for room. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 4: GRINDERS COFFEE ROASTERS STAKES – 1300M
 
INVINCIBELLA – Had to be restrained from heels near the 1000m.
 
OREGON’S DAY – Raced three wide without cover.
 
I’LL HAVE A BIT – Raced three wide with cover.
 
QUILISTA – Overraced in the early stages when leading.
 
ECKSTEIN – Jumped awkwardly. Held up in the home straight until near the 250m.
 
MAGIC ALIBI – Restrained in the early stages from the outside barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 5: ASCOT GREEN LORD MAYOR’S CUP – 1600M
 
BERGERAC – Slow to begin.
 
CELLARMAN – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced three wide without cover.
 
LE JUGE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up in the early stages of the home straight until near the 250m.
 
DUCA VALENTINOIS – Raced wide with cover.
 
FIT FOR PURPOSE – Raced wide with cover.
 
ORDER AGAIN – Crowded on jumping. Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
BEEFEATER – Overraced in the early stages.
 
ARITCUS – Raced wide with cover.
 
KARAVALI – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Race 6: KIRIN BRC SIRES’ PRODUCE STAKES – 1400M
 
ACCESSION – Passing the 300m was momentarily held up when attempting a run between GEM OF SCOTLAND and WRITTEN WITH EASE.
 
BALLISTIC BOY – Slow to begin.
 
GEM OF SCOTLAND – Raced three wide without cover.
 
OH FIVE GLORY – Overraced in the early stages. Bumped heavily by STRASBOURG near the 500m and taken wider on the track.
 
SIZZLING BABE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
GRAND SCHOLAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be short striding in both forelegs and sore in both front fetlocks. Trainer T. McEvoy was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 7: EVA AIR PREMIER’S CUP – 2200M
 
Trainer J. Richards was fined $200 for failing to declare C. Brown as the rider of MONGOLIANCONQUEROR by the prescribed time.
 
As C. Brown was to be overweight, K. O’Hara was substituted as the rider of MONGOLIANCONQUEROR. C. Brown was fined $200.
 
MOSS N’ DALE – Slow to begin.
 
HARIPOUR – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a rearward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
EXOTERIC – Slow to begin.
 
THE LORD MAYOR – Raced three wide without cover.
 
TUMULTUOUS – Momentarily crowded passing the 300m.
 
LUVALUVA – Raced three wide with cover.
 
OUR LIBRETTO – Raced three wide with cover.
 
COOL CHAP – When overracing making the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion, had to be restrained from the heels of TUMULTUOUS, which shifted in when not quite clear. R. Fradd, the rider of TUMULTUOUS, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
I’M A PRINCESS – Taken wider by MORENDI, which shifted out abruptly when checked making the turn out of the straight on the first occasion, and then raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
MORENDI – Checked and shifted out abruptly making the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion.
 
THE CANDY MAN – Held up rounding the home turn. M. Cahill was shown the film and reprimanded and reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
 
HAPPY GO PLUCKY – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
Race 8: TAB KINGSFORD-SMITH CUP – 1300M
 
REDOUBLE – Had to be eased near the 800m to avoid the heels of ENCRYPTION, which shifted in when not quite clear.
 
VICTOREM – Raced wide with cover.
 
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Raced wide with cover.
 
DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
ENDLESS DRAMA – Restrained from an outside barrier to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the rail. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MAN BOOKER – Slow to begin. Restrained from heels approaching and passing the 800m.
 
PROMPT RESPONSE – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
RINGERDINGDING – Raced wide with cover.
 
WHITE MOSS – Raced three wide without cover.        
 
OUTBACK BARBIE – Restrained from an outside barrier to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the rail. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
 
DUBIOUS – Stewards permitted N. Beriman to ride the colt half a kilogram over its allocated weight. Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 9: NUTURF FRED BEST CLASSIC – 1400M
 
MISHANI HUSTLER – Connections advised that from the outside barrier the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Trainer L. Ross stated that from a wide barrier it was his intention to race back off the pace, however, he had instructed its rider to be positive from the barriers and then to attempt to obtain a position off the pace. Rider T. Marshall confirmed these instructions and stated that after commencing positively he attempted to obtain a position back off the pace, however, was caught wide and then in order to avoid racing wide for an extended period he elected to go forward.
 
LEONARDO DA HINCHI – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SIGNORE FOX – Raced three wide throughout.
 
VEGA ONE – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain the lead approaching the 600m. When questioned, J. Lloyd stated that he was unable to obtain a position closer to the fence in the early stages and when the pace slackened the gelding commenced to race keenly and as such he then elected to allow his mount to go forward to take up the lead.
 
CRAFTY SPIRIT – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
AGASSI – Near the 200m was eased off the heels of KRONE, which shifted in abruptly after being carried in slightly by LEONARDO DA HINCHI.
 
SEABROOK – Held up between the 500m and the 300m.
 
PENNINO – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
POHUTUKAWA – Eased near the 1000m to avoid heels. Held up in the home straight until near the 250m.
 
BACCARAT BABY – Raced three wide throughout.
 
OCEAN WAVES – Crowded for room at the start. Had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions approaching and passing the 800m.
