Following a complaint from Bookmaker R Turnball regarding Bookmaker’s Clerk P Turner taking photos of his stand which may have included his staff, Stewards inquired into the circumstances surrounding the matter. Stewards directed P Turner to cease taking photos until after the race meeting had been concluded. Mr Turner also agreed to, in the presence of Stewards and Mr Turnball, delete any images which contained Mr Turnball’s staff. Mr Turnball was satisfied with the resolution.
 
Race 1: Top Tune Diesel Open Plate 1000m
 
NICCO’S LASS – Jockey D Simmons was permitted to ride the mare a half kilogram overweight.
 
SPORTING PAGE – Declared a late scratching at 1:17pm when the gelding refused to load. Deductions were as follows:
 
38 cents on the value of win bets on the winner.
 
Trainer O Cairns was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
No racing incidents.
 
Race 2: Anglo American QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m
 
SOME FAIRY SONG – Declared a late scratching at 8:30am when there was no rider available.
 
SIR EARLSTOUN – Blundered on jumping. Put in an awkward stride near the 900 metres momentarily unbalancing its rider.
 
KATANDRA – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
BROW ROWEL – Dipped near the 900 metres and raced wide throughout. Jockey D Simmons reported that the filly did not handle toady’s track surface.
 
Race 3: Dyno Nobel BenchMark 45 Handicap 1170m
 
IF BY CHANCE – Floundered at the start and lost ground.
 
AUTHADANE – Dipped on jumping.
 
TUSCAN GAMBLER – Raced wide throughout. Jockey S Sheargold reported that the gelding did not appreciate the heavier going near the 400 metres.
 
Race 4: Neil Mansell Pre Mix BenchMark 60 Handicap 1170m
 
No racing incidents.
 
Race 5: Isaac Regional Council Class B Handicap 1400m
 
GENERAL SIDEREUS – Slow to begin.
