BEHIND THE THISTLE – when asked to comment on the performance rider G Geran stated the horse was slow to muster early speed then was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages.  He added when placed under pressure near the 500 metres, BEHIND THE THISTLE responded to his riding and in his opinion finished the race off fairly.

PLAY NOW – app S Lacey was fined the sum of $100 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip more than five times prior to the 100 metres.

CHASING ACRES – after being loaded into the barriers, reared and became cast.  The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching on Veterinary advice at 2:51pm.  On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies on CHASING ACRES be refunded in full, with deductions of 22 cents the win and 17 cents the place face value of all tickets to apply.  SPs are subject to deductions.  After taking into account CHASING ACRES’ recent poor record in this regard, trainer J Gregory was advised the gelding must obtain two further barrier certificates prior to its next race start.

MAGIC PANTHER – crowded for room and checked near the 100 metres.  Jockey M Crawford, rider of BEAU TIRAGE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 131(a) in that near the 100 metres he permitted the gelding to shift out under pressure resulting in both MAGIC PANTHER and REBEL SAGA being checked.  The riding licence of M Crawford was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 25th April 2019 up until midnight 7th May 2019.
