GENERAL

Due to the veterinary surgeon being delayed arriving on course, Race 1 and 2 were rescheduled to the following times;

R1 – 12.55AM
R2 – 1.20PM

All other races were run as per schedule.

Race 1: CLUB 150 2021 QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres

The start was delayed when JUST SID needed to be resaddled behind the barriers.

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to give consideration to an objection lodged by A Sewell rider of the fourth placegetter, AGUSTAWYND against third placegetter, DIDN’T ASK ME (M. McGillivray) alleging interference near the 100m. It was established that approaching the 100m, DIDN’T ASK ME shifted out under pressure taking AGUSTAWYND out onto KOHEETO causing AGUSTAWYND to make heavy contact with KOHEETO and cause jockey A Sewell to stop riding at that point. Bearing in mind the nature of the interference, the margin of a nose and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, Stewards could be comfortably satisfied that had the interference to AGUSTAWYND not occurred it would have beaten DIDN’T ASK ME home and therefore the protest was upheld and correct weight was declared on the new numbers 7-6-5-3.

BAY'S SPIRIT – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

KOHEETO – Had to be reshod prior to entering the enclosure. After passing the 100m, was bumped by AGUSTAWYND.

DIDN'T ASK ME – Laid out after passing the 800m. Approaching the 100m, laid out under riding crowding AGUSTAWYND.

AGUSTAWYND – Slow to begin, then was bumped becoming unbalanced shortly after the start. Approaching the 100m, had to be steadied and forced wider on the course when crowded for room between KOHEETO and DIDN’T ASK ME, which laid out under riding.

MONTANA NIGHT – Near the 750m, had to be steadied away from the heels of KOHEETO.

Race 2: THE AUSTRALIAN TRAINERS ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS QLD TRAINERS OPEN Handica 1050 metres

MISHANI BULLITT – Rider B Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permissible under the rule, and was fined $400.

Race 3: AUSTRALIAN TRAINERS ASSOCIATION Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres

DOOM – Rider J Stanley reported that it was not his intention to be in a forward position, but after beginning well, in a slowly run race allowed his mount to travel where it was comfortable.
