Race 1: Beverley O’Keeffe Memorial Class B Handicap 900m
THE VOLTO – Broke through the front of the barriers and restrained shortly after.
ROCKET OF GOLD – Slow into stride. Began to climb in the dust kick back near the 700 metres and raced tailed off.
IT’S MY TIME – Began awkwardly shifting in and bumping REAL DEAL MCNEILL.
REAL DEAL MCNEILL – Bumped shortly after the start.
FORTUNATO BAMBINO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 2: Dooley’s Tavern & Motel QTIS Maiden Plate 900m
The start of this race was delayed by 20 minutes when QAS Officers had to attend to a patron.
PAPER TALK – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost considerable ground.
THAT’S ENOUGH – Rider reported that he struck his right knee on the gate on jumping making it difficult to ride the mare in the early stages and as a result dropped well back.
HIGH HUSSY – App. N Morton was permitted to ride 1.5 kilograms overweight when no other rider was available. Raced in a three wide position without cover throughout.
DARK ROCKER – Laid in for some distance shortly after the start. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
MISS SINGEORGE – App. L Dodds was permitted to ride 1 kilogram overweight when there was no other rider available. Raced five wide without cover throughout.
MRS BOUQUET – Shifted out under hard riding near the 150 metres bumping another runner.
LADYEYE – Bumped near the 150 metres when MRS BOUQUET shifted out. App. M Nakao was issued with a reprimand for shifting ground when not clear to do so.
Race 3: Paul Taylor Memorial BenchMark 60 Handicap 1400m
MR OPURRTUNIST – Raced wide throughout.
App. L Dodds was fined $100 for accepting a ride and subsequently being overweight. App. Dodds was replaced by App. M Nakao.
Race 4: Sojitz Minerva BenchMark 55 Handicap 1100m
SARGE BRIGADE – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
THIRD ROCK – Jumped in at the start hampering another runner. Rider stated that the gelding was awkward around the turns and finish well back. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
OTTO’S BROTHER – Forced in at the start onto the heels of another runner.
TYRANNIZE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Kevin Woolcock Memorial Bracelet Open Handicap 1100m
IT’S WANTED – Stable representative J Baker was advised that Trainer W Baker would be fine $100 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
SPUR WITH EASE – Began awkwardly.
EXSTRATUM – Raced wide without cover throughout.
REPO ZEST – Rider reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action approaching the 100 metres and subsequently eased the horse down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering an injured offside fetlock.
