The start of this race was further delayed when UMAWINNER became fractious after leaving the enclosure and proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. The gelding also became fractious behind the barriers and lost the near hind plate. The gelding was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 7.21pm. Following the race, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on UMAWINNER be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

45 cents in the dollar for the win #2
