ATHERTON TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 22ND FEB 03
STEWARDS PANEL:

WEATHER – FINE TRACK:- GOOD RAIL – TRUE
As L Nelson was to overweight the following riding replacements were approved:-
Race 1: BIG RED MAN J Dickinson
Race 3: RATZINGER K Penrose
Race 6: DELTA GLOW L Buckingham
In the special circumstances outlined by L Nelson, Stewards did not impose a penalty, however he was given a clear direction that he must not accept rides unless he was confident that he could make the allotted weight.
RACE 1:.
JACOBS ROCK, BIG RED MAN and LADY IVY were all slow into stride. THE REAPER knuckled on jumping losing ground. JACOBS ROCK was held up for clear running at the 200m. LADY IVY returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the off hind fetlock.
RACE 2:
Due to no jockey being available in the jockeys room, Stewards allowed L Nelson ride WOREE LAD 2 kgs over the allotted weight. LAKE DISTRICT blundered badly at the start, all most dislodging its rider E Kowald losing ground. TYCOON DANNY had to be steadied at the 400 m to avoid the heels of LAKE DISTRICT, which rolled in marginally.
RACE 3:
Over the concluding stages SPORT PRINCE shifted in inconveniencing RAPID FORCE.
RACE 4:
MANNDO was declared a non runner when MANNDO broke the back gate of barrier six (6), the starter Mr K Moody then placed MANNDO in the out side barrier. Deductions of 13 cents in the win and 12 cents in the place.
BLACKLOCK tended to over race at the 750m and had to be eased to avoid the heels of SEARCHLIGHT.
RACE 5:
At the start QUALITY ACHIEVED jumped out and CENTURY SEA jumped in crowding DELTIC PARK.
RACE 6:
CASTELOZOS was a late scratching at 2.23 pm when he proved difficult to load. Deductions of 5 cents in the win and place. Trainer G Purdy was advised that CASTELOZOZ would be required to pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start. DELTA GLOW jumped out at the start crowding FRAARTOUS and BUNBURRA BOBBY.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
