GENERAL REPORT:

Stewards today inquired into the reasons for Trainer B.Butler engaging unlicensed staff to work at a track work session conducted at the Mareeba race course on the mornings of the 24th and 27th August 2007.
After considering the evidence before them, Stewards charged Mr Butler with breaching Lr43 in that he did employ unlicensed Stablehands on the dates mentioned. Mr Butler pleaded guilty to the charge that had been laid against him and was subsequently fined the sum of $200

Apprentice T.Fujinuma pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of Ar92(12) in that as the rider of CITY PADRE (R3), SPERT (R4) and SHE’S SUPREME (R7) he did fail to claim his full allowance. Apprentice Fujinuma was fined the sum of $200

Race 1: Central Tyre Service fc Williams Memorial QTIS
Maiden Plate (1) - 1100m
1st - ABDUCTOR 2nd - RAPID ILLUSION 3rd - POWDER PUFFS 4th – King Jasar

Stewards permitted Jockey K.Rockett to be the replacement rider for SUGARTIME HONEY when the declared rider Jockey S.Morris was unable to make the allotted weight. Subsequently Jockey Morris was fined the sum of $100 under the terms of Ar120(b)

SUGARTIME HONEY was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the rider weighing out for the event. No abnormalities were detected and the horse was declared fit to start in the event.

SUGARTIME HONEY (K.Rockett) commenced to buck soon after the start, resulting in Jockey K.Rockett being dislodged. Jockey Rockett appeared uninjured and was passed by the attending Ambulance official to continue his riding engagements for the day. Trainer B.Hunter was advised that SUGARTIME HONEY was now barred from racing until such time as it successfully completes TWO barrier trials in front of a Steward.

POWDERPUFFS (M.Dale) DOWN THE BARREL (I.Fry) was slow into stride.

Race 2: ANZ Bank / Tableland Veterinary Services QTIS Maiden Plate (2) - 1100m
1st - VACILLATOR 2nd - LORD JACOB 3rd - FERRO 4th - CASH FLOW POSITIVE

HYPATICA (J.Stopps) hung out badly over the final 200mtr of the event. Trainer Purdy was advised that a warning is placed on HYPATICA

FERRO (I.Toward) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with LORD JACOB (F.Edwards)

Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of TOTAL IMPACT. After taking evidence from Jockey M.Dale and Trainer G.Purdy, the Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed

Race 3: Tableland Hydroponics Class 6 Handicap - 1200m
1st - CARRY ON ACE 2nd - PIRAEUS 3rd - GUNNERS BARRACKS 4th - SILVER FUN

IMPUNITY (M.Cullen) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride

At approximately the 900mtr mark CITY PADRE (App T.Fujinuma) shifted outwards and made contact with SCORPIO STAR (P.Cullen)

Race 4: Atherton Showcase Jewellers Class 3 Plate - 1100m
1st - FACE THE ACTION 2nd - RATHILLET 3rd - PALACE MINSTREL 4th - GUN FIGHTER

As Jockey M.Dale was unable to make the allotted weight on CASA BIANCA, Stewards permitted Jockey K.Rockett to be the replacement rider. Jockey M.Dale was fined the sum of $100 for a breach of Ar120(b)

Stewards considered an application from Jockey’s R.Ryan, I.Toward and M.Cullen to have this event declared a no race and the grounds that the Starter did not officially effect the start. After considering the submissions and viewing the patrol films, the Stewards believed that no horse was materially prejudiced and accordingly the Stewards deemed the event to be a race

At approximately the 300mtr mark PALACE MINSTREL (M.Elliott0 shifted inwards and hampered the running of BIKKIE BARREL (App S.Kaya)





Race 5: Atherton Amcal Chemist Open Handicap - 1100m
1st - HOTELIER 2nd - UNITE AND PROSPER 3rd - CRAFTY’S BROTHER 4th - SKY MOUNTAIN

SILVERSTEIN suffered an attack of bleeding from both nostrils during the running of this event. Trainer S.Potiris was advised that due to this being the second attack of bleeding suffered by SILVERSTEIN the horse was now barred from racing for life.

STONEY PLANET (J.Stopps) jumped awkwardly inwards and hampered TATANKA (G.Kliese)

Race 6: TGT Agriculture & Hardware/Bushman Floats Class 1 Handicap (1) - 1200m
1st - PYRAMID ASSASSIN 2nd - HEY SISSY 3rd - MISTRESS QUICKLY 4th - MIRACLE BAZ

PYRAMID ASSASSIN (App T.Fujinuma) raced very ungenerously in the early stages of the event, then was inclined to lay out over the final stages.

Apprentice T.Fujinuma pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR137(c) in that as the rider of PYRAMID ASSASSIN he did make a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. Apprentice Fujinuma was fined the sum of $150. In accessing the matter of penalty the Stewards took into account that this was the apprentices first ever winner.

Race 7: Tonkin Steel Class 1 Handicap (2) - 1200m
1st - CHEYENNE KID 2nd - LIL’ MISS INNOCENT 3rd - FLASH BANG 4th - SIRCAY

SHE’S SUPREME (App T.Fujinuma) stood flat footed when the gates opened and missed the start considerably, then raced very wide rounding the home turn and in the straight. Trainer B.Hunter was advised that SHE”S SUPREME is now barred from racing until such time as it successfully completes a barrier jumpout

Race 8: Barron Valley Hotel/Bundaberg Rum Atherton Cup
Open Handicap - 1400m
1st - PAWIE 2nd - LIDIANA 3rd - FLYING WOODPECKER 4th - ELMESSIAH

Jockey G.Kliese reported that his mount raced ungenerously during the middle stages of the event and got its head up in the air

LIDIANA (R.Ryan) became fractious in the barriers and was removed from the barriers and inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon. The horse was passed fit to start in the event
