Race 1: QTIS Maiden Plate
Ainslie jumped away very awkwardly losing ground.
Kwila Black rounded the home turn awkwardly.
Race 2: Barcaldine Motel Class 4 Handicap
Approaching the 800 metres Burra Belle had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Idris which was inclined to lay in. Apprentice J Dagan the rider of Idris was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to keep Idris from shifting in.
Race 3: Commercial Hotel Class B Handicap
As Apprentice C Browne was stood down for the remained of the meeting by the Clubs Ambulance Officer after fulfilling his engagement in Race 2. As no other apprentice was available Stewards permitted R Barone to ride Kentucky Whisper.
The Little Driller jumped away awkwardly.
Race 4: Gone Shopping Class 1 Handicap
After passing the 1000 metres Snow Gold shifted in and made contact with Kwilbet.
Snow Gold again shifted in near the 800 metres making heavy contact with Kwilbet which then shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of Bellen Girl. Both Kwilbet and Bellen Girl became unbalanced. Apprentice C Prow was reprimanded.
Bellen Girl hung out rounding the home turn hampering Snow Gold.
Race 5 : Cullen Memorial Shield Handicap
Go Radar raced wide throughout the event. Go Radar lost both hind plates in running.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of Go Radar trainer H Forster stated that he had been disappointed with the gelding’s performances so far this preparation as the horse had been working well. He further added that Go Radar had received some chiropractic treatment and that jockey D Monaghan had the gelding in the best section of the track.
