SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Jockey S. Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under AR 83(a) in that he made inappropriate comments toward Jockey L. Appo in the vicinity of the scales area. S. Bayliss was fined the sum of $300, however acting under LR22(f) stewards suspended $200 for 12 months on the proviso that Jockey Bayliss does not re-offend during that time.
Jockey L. Appo was charged under AR 83(a) in that he made inappropriate comments and used inappropriate language towards Jockey S. Bayliss in the vicinity of the scales area. The matter however was adjourned to allow Jockey Appo to seek advice regarding the charge.
As App K. James was unavailable due to injury, rider replacements were made as per Stewards Summary.
Race 1: Ulton Financial Planning Class 4 H’cap – 1090m
1st – Barramundi 2nd – Canadian Chief 3rd – St Bolero 4th – Shovelle
The start was delayed due to BARRAMUNDI (App. K. Gates) proving difficult to load.
CANADIAN CHIEF (D McWhinney), which jumped away awkwardly, hung out throughout the event.
SHOVELLE (D Gill) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Professional Investment Services Maiden Plt – 1090m
1st – We Will Rock 2nd – Rockin’ Me 3rd – First Face 4th – Paint Me Lucky
FIERY VIEW (K Yoneyama), which proved difficult to load, jumped away awkwardly losing ground and raced greenly throughout. Trainer L Gough was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier and racing manners of the filly.
FIRST FACE (K Cross) jumped away awkwardly, lost ground and made contact with TARMAC (D McWhinney).
ROYCE’S CHOICE (L. Appo) shifted wider at the 700m and raced wide from that point.
When questioned regarding the performance of ROCKIN’ ME (D Gill), particularly during the early stages when the mare lost contact with the main body of the field, Jockey D Gill stated that despite her urgings ROCKIN’ ME could not muster speed early, however finished the race off well from the 600m.
Race 3: Ulton Cup Open H’cap – 1212m
1st – The Hand 2nd – Cane Champagne 3rd – High Dee 4th –Through The Waves
CANE CHAMPAGNE (App J. Kropp) which was slow to begin, shifted out at the start making contact with CERTAIN CIRCLES (C. Kearney).
THE HAND (L. Appo) was slow to begin.
Jockey L. Appo the rider of THE HAND was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1000m he failed to stop riding and straighten his mount, which was inclined to lay in, resulting in both THROUGH THE WAVES (I. Coombes), which had to be restrained, and CERTAIN CIRCLES being tightened for room between CANE CHAMPAGNE and THE HAND. Jockey Appo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 7 race meetings, to begin at midnight September 18 and conclude at midnight September 30.
Race 4: NAB Class B H’cap – 1212m
1st – Judges Verdict 2nd – Mr Magorium 3rd – Glenrock Matthew 4th – Rajeena
RAJEENA (App K. Gates) and GLENROCK MATTHEW (App D. McWhinney) both blundered on jumping away.
OWIE (App K. Yoneyama), MR MAGORIUM (D. Gill), MISSY’S GOTTHECASH (L. Appo), and MINNEAPOLIS (S. Bayliss) were tightened for room at the start between FROZEN TIME (App J. Kropp), which shifted out and ROCKIN RILEY (App S. Wiseman), which shifted in. OWIE had to be checked as a result of this incident.
GRAND TURK (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.
Trainer Mr M. Reardon reported that JUDGES VERDICT (C. Kearney) had its off side hind leg galloped on in running.
MR MAGORIUM hung out in the home straight.
Race 5: RBS Morgans Class 2 H’cap – 1380m
1st – Ewey Bay 2nd – Mr Nibbles 3rd – Tiggeroo 4th – Gallus
TANZILL (S. Bayliss) was slow to begin.
WILLIAMSTOWN (L. Appo) was slow into stride.
EWEY BAY (App J. Kropp) was steadied near the 800m when forced to race in restricted room between TIGGEROO (App S. Wiseman) and COLLATERAL BLUES (C. Kearney), which shifted in.
WILLIAMSTOWN raced wide throughout.
