SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Apprentices’ B. Floyd and K. Gates were both issued with reprimands for failing to present letters of authority.

From Beaudesert, Saturday, December 3, 2011 – Race 5

Stewards concluded an adjourned inquiry into TAIMAZOV TRUFFEL being checked over the concluding stages of this race. After taking evidence from all riders, stewards were of the opinion that leaving the 100m MARC THE MAGPIE (App M. McKenzie) shifted out despite the efforts of the rider and hampered NEFCHE ESSA (L. Williams), which then shifted out abruptly away from that runner resulting in TAIMAZOV TRUFFEL (B. Abbey) being checked by its rider. In all the circumstances stewards believed that Apprentice M. McKenzie had made sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting ground and took no further action in the matter.

Race 1: Fifi’s 40 Mdn Plt – 1090m
1st – Fair Swap 2nd – Belladonna Delago 3rd – Mount Morgan 4th – Gems Tatt

NORTHERN TRAVELLER (I. Coombes) jumped in the air as the start was effected.

STAR OF KINTYRE (R. Hancock) blundered badly at the start and lost considerable ground.

BELLADONNA DELAGO (C. Kearney) was slow to begin.

UKOK LASS (S. McGovern) began awkwardly.

BRACE FOR IMPACT (App K. Gates) made the first turn near the 900m awkwardly, shifted wider as a result and raced wide from that point.

CRAIGLEA BARKLY (D. Whitmore), GEMS TATT (App D. McWhinney) and MOUNT MORGAN (W. Glass) raced wide throughout.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow C. Kearney, the rider of BELLADONNA DELAGO, which was declared by the judge to have finished second, the opportunity to view the photo finish. After viewing the photo, jockey Kearney was satisfied with the result and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

Race 2: Avondale Tavern Class B H’cap – 1090m
1st – Inthanon 2nd – Out of Character 3rd – Sugar Diamond 4th – Red Ace

The start of this race was delayed when SOPHIES SISTER (App K. Gates) was required to be re-saddled at the barriers. This proved to be difficult due to the mare’s behaviour.

The start was further delayed when SUPERTROOPER (App M. McKenzie) proved difficult to load.

The start of the race was again further delayed when it was discovered that GOD SHE’S RAUNCHY (I. Coombes) had been loaded into the incorrect barrier stall resulting in that mare and a number of other runners having to be unloaded from their stalls and re-loaded into their correct barrier positions. As stewards were mindful of mitigating circumstances at the start that led to the error, jockey Coombes was reminded of his obligations to ensure that his mounts were loaded into their correct barrier stall.

A further delay occurred when OWIE (App S. Wiseman), which was lashing out, refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 2.14pm. Trainer D. Deans was advised that OWIE would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to start again.

BEL TORNADO (App J. King), which was fractious, reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer T. Williams was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its barrier manners.

SUPERTROOPER began awkwardly.

RED ACE (L. Dillon) and INTHANON (App B. Floyd) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 500m SOPHIES SISTER shifted out abruptly from the heels of DUAN ALLIBAR (C. Kearney) forcing RED ACE wider on the track. Apprentice K. Gates was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on OWIE were ordered to be refunded and deductions of 16 cents in the dollar for the win and 14 cents in the dollar for the place were to apply to bets placed on the winner and 2nd and 3rd placegetters.

Race 3: Solana Photography Class 2 H’cap – 1212m
1st – Morongla 2nd – Force Eight 3rd – Magic Turbo 4th – Dixie Flyer

DIXIE FLYER (L. Henry) blundered at the start and a short distance later shifted out making contact with FRISCO AFFAIR (App B. Floyd).

MAGIC TURBO (App K. Gates) raced wide in the early stages.

FRISCO AFFAIR, ARE WE IN LOVE (App D. McWhinney) and FORCE EIGHT (App M. McKenzie) all raced wide throughout.

CARRYUSALL (L. Dillon) was eased out of the race near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer D. Wright was advised that he must provide stewards with a Veterinary Certificate of fitness prior to the horse’s next race start.

Race 4: Bundaberg Race Club Summer Cup Open H’cap – 1212m
1st – Craiglea Blondie 2nd – Final Crunch 3rd – Burmak 4th – Queen of Happiness

I’LL RULE (W. Glass) and CRAIGLEA BLONDIE (App B. Floyd) were both slow to begin.

BURMAK (S. Bayliss) raced wide in the early stages.

CRAIGLEA BLONDIE and RED TSAR (I. Coombes) raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Mitty’s Class 4 H’cap – 850m
1st – Craiglea Fighter 2nd – Startova 3rd – I’ll Belt Ya 4th – The Regal One

NINEDAYFORTNIGHT (D. Whitmore), which began awkwardly, was tightened for room at the start between NEVACANTEL (C. Kearney) and CRAIGLEA FIGHTER (App K. Gates) both of which shifted ground. A short distance later I’LL BELT YA (App M. McKenzie) shifted out and bumped NEVACANTEL, which shifted out, further tightening NINEDAYFORTNIGHT.

NINEDAYFORTNIGHT and LITTLE ZACHARY (W. Glass) raced wide throughout.

Jockey C. Kearney reported after the race that in his opinion NEVACANTEL would be better suited over races of a further distance than that of today’s event.
