Race 1: SEA FM OPEN HCP 1212M
UNIQUE FUSE (D.Gill) and POWER PLANT (J.Hoopert) raced wide throughout.
When questioned over the disappointing performance of FRENARDI, Apprentice Derbyshire stated that after beginning from barrier one she was forced to race on the inside part of the track which in her opinion was the heaviest part of the track. Trainer K. Munce agreed with apprentice Derbyshire’s assessment.
FRENARDI lost a near hind plate in running.
Race 2: NEWSMAIL HCP CLASS 2 1212M
Trainer K.Hill advised stewards that she would be instructing her rider C.Kearney not to use the whip on GRANDEUR KING.
FOMALSTAR (I Coombes) slow to begin
WICKED FRAAR (F.Elliott) blundered at the start
CENTERFOLD BABE (D.Gill) raced wide in the early stages.
WICKED FRARR raced wide in the middle stages.
On return to scales jockey I coombes rider of FOMALSTAR reported that his horse after being slow to begin then resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.
Race 3: BOYLAN’S PRODUCE HCP CLASS B 1380M
PENDAIRE (S.Bayliss) shifted in at the start making contact with REMY MARTINI (B.Derbyshire)
LOTUS EATER (C.Kearney) raced wide throughout.
Stewards afforded Jockey Coombes the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance of REDWIN. Jockey Coombes stated that after settling to the rear of the field in the early stages of the event he was satisfied as this was the horses normal racing pattern. Jockey Coombes also added that the gelding travelled well up until near the 500m and then when he applied pressure the gelding failed to respond and proved disappointing over the concluding stages.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of PLATINUM PEAKS, Trainer M Hassam stated the horse was inclined to hang out at its most recent starts and with the addition of a butterfly bit to the horses race day gear felt that this may have contributed to the horses improved performance today.
Race 4: EAST END HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE 1090M
After making contact with the enclosure fence, TE AROHA (NZ) underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed suitable to race.
DARK DAZZLER (B.Derbyshire) began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly making contact with NORTHERN WAR LORD (S.Bayliss) and as a result NORTHERN WAR LORD lost ground.
POET’S VIEW (I.Coombes) slow to begin and lost considerable ground.
BELLA BEIJING (F.Elliott) raced wide throughout.
Race 5: BUNDY DIESEL HCP B’MARK 65 1090M
Stewards permitted Jockey Bayliss was permitted to ride his mount HONOUR JACKO half a kilogram overweight.
After making heavy contact with the enclosure fence SINDIBAD was underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed suitable to race.
TELLKANE (C.Kearney) reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer D.Gardiner was advised that a warning would be placed on the horses barrier manners.
CALARABEN (E.Heinemann) shifted out at the start making contact with HONOUR JACKO.
HONOUR JACKO blundered shortly after the start.
SINDIBAD and EL SUPREMO (F.Elliot) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
