Race 1: Ulton Class B Handicap- 1380 metres
1st – COMMANDER BOND 2nd – DESTINY’S TUNE 3rd –SUNDIATA FLYER 4th- DUAN THEO
NOM DE PLUME (C. Pye) jumped outwards, made heavy contact with DUAN THEO (S. McGovern) and lost ground.
REDOUTE’S POWER (C. Kearney) and MURRAMARANG (App K Gates) raced wide throughout.
Jockey C Kearney reported that REDOUTE’S POWER did not handle the sand track surface and may appreciate further distance.
Apprentice T Tincknell was fined $200 for failing to weigh in for 3rd (ARR 144).
Race 2: NAB Maiden Handicap- 850 metres
1st – WATER FORCE 2nd – SKATEDATE 3rd – WILLIE’S CLOUDS 4th – AWESOME SMILE
APPLE TREE CREEK (C Pye) was slow to begin.
JACKSON MAGIC (App K Gates), which was a little slow to begin, made contact with AWESOME SMILE (I. Coombes) which jumped out, and then made contact with hindquarters of MY JOY SUE (S. Bayliss).
Near the 250 metres, RED MINT (App I French) shifted out and when struck with the whip reacted and raced ungenerously in the straight.
WATER FORCE, APPLE TREE CREEK and JACKSON MAGIC all raced wide throughout.
Jockey C Kearney advised that WILLIE’S CLOUD may have got its tongue back and recommended the addition of a tongue tie.
Apprentice C Jokic reported that the saddle on WATER FORCE had shifted on jumping which placed her at some disadvantage throughout.
Race 3: Down To Earth Patrons Trophy Open Handicap- 1194 metres
1st – EL SUPREMO 2nd – EMERTON 3rd – THE BLIZZARD 4th – FAIR EXPECTATION
TELLKANE (C. Pye) began extremely awkwardly. Jockey Pye reported she had placed the gelding under pressure however the gelding had resented it throughout. A post- race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to be lame in both forelegs. Trainer G Popp reported that the gelding would now be retired. In the event the horse returned to racing, a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required.
THE BLIZZARD (App T. Williams) was a little slow to begin.
Following the race, EMERTON was treated for mild colic.
Race 4: Club Hotel Events BM 65 Handicap- 1212 metres
1st – ZIP ZIP GIRL 2nd – BEAUTRIX 3rd – MARTY 4th – THE HYDRATOR
As Stewards had been notified that Apprentice G Steele was unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, Apprentice T Williams was substituted as the rider of EPONA FIRE.
After being loaded, WISH I WAS NELLY (C. Pye) was fractious and removed from the barriers. After undergoing a veterinary inspection, the filly was cleared to take its place in the field.
MILWAUKEE BELLE (I. Coombes) was a little slow to begin.
WILDWOOD OAKS (A. Badger) began awkwardly and blundered.
PENDARIE (S. Bayliss) jumped in onto BEAUTRIX (App A Van Der Sanden) which made contact with BEAUTIFUL MEG (App I French).
Near the 200 metres, MARTY (App C Jokic) and ZIP ZIP GIRL (App B Derbyshire) bumped.
Near the 100 metres, ZIP ZIP GIRL and BEAUTRIX made contact.
PENDARIE and WILDWOOD OAKS raced wide throughout the race.
Apprentice I French reported that BEAUTIFUL MEG was inclined to hang in throughout.
Race 5: Learmonth Foodworks BM 65 Handicap- 1090 metres
1st – SNIP ‘N AWAY 2nd – SUFFERIN SUCCOTASH 3rd –HONOUR JACKO 4th – MAKE A DEAL
Apprentice T Tincknell was reprimanded when only able to claim 1.5kg of her 2kg claim.
MAKE A DEAL (App C Jokic) was a little slow to begin.
PRIVATE CHAT (C Pye) began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
SNIP’N’AWAY (J. Hoopert) raced wide throughout the race.
Correct weight was delayed to allow App Jokic to view the photo finish print for 3rd. After doing so, App Jokic was satisfied as to the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.
