Race 1: Kidman (Sandringham-Glengyle)/ B.W. Murphy/Past Residents Syndicate Maiden Plate - 1100m
lst Desert Lair 2nd Jestacount 3rd Celine’s Boy 4th- Lava Man

IT AIN’T PRETTY (C. Gilby) was slow to begin.

LAVA MAN (M. Heagney) raced wide during the early stages, along with DESERT LAIR (T. Brummell).

Rounding the home turn, DESERT LAIR was held up for clear running behind GREY VALETA (B. Calkin), and on straightening was obliged to steady and shift outwards.

Race 2: Kamaran Downs/Black Truck Sales/G&J Lesington Open H'cap - 1000m
lst Aussie Rock 2nd Two Shinko’s 3rd Samurai Spirit 4th- Hardheaded

SAMURAI SPIRIT (C. Schumacher) reared when the gates were released and lost considerable ground.

AUSSIE ROCK raced wide rounding the home turn.

Stewards questioned trainer G. Tully regarding the improved performance of AUSSIE ROCK. He explained that after its previous start the jockey stated the horse may have swallowed its tongue, which contributed to its performance on 4 September.

A post race veterinary examination PEAYE ARJAY revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. As this was the first time that PEAYE ARJAY had bled, trainer G. Tipping was advised of the provisions of AR53A.

Race 3: Toby & Glen Harris/Baldwin Boulders/Roadtrains of Australia Class B H'cap - 1200m
lst Birdsville Bound 2nd Money Bunny 3rd Lil Mini Moo 4th- See Me Run

LIL MINI MOO (T. Brummell) jumped outwards at the start when released, taking SEE ME RUN (C. Gilby) out on to RENEGADES (C. Kearney), which was slow to begin, resulting in all 3 runners being steadied.

SEE ME RUN overraced during the early stages.

Race 4: Cluny Station/George Bourne & Associates Bedourie Cup Open H'cap - 1600m
lst Written Habit 2nd Lotto Blues 3rd Golden Papillon 4th- Equitant

BILLIGABOO (C. Kearney) was slow to begin and lost ground.

WRITTEN HABIT (T. Brummell) jumped inwards when released and bumped CATCHIT (C. Schumacher), resulting in WRITTEN HABIT becoming unbalanced.

Stewards inquired into an incident nearing the 1400m, in which CATCHIT when steadied got its head up and laid in, resulting in OOLITE (J. Daley) shifting inwards, and as a result GOLDEN PAPILLON (B. Calkin) was checked and lost ground. In this incident, SHALE SHAKER (M. Tarrant) also had to be steadied. C. Schumacher, rider of CATCHIT, stated that his mount overraced early and when steadied the gelding - which had only 1 race start on the left-handed way of going - became awkward laid in. Stewards deemed the matter to be a racing incident, however advised trainer T. Austin to take measures to correct the racing manners of CATCHIT.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of LONGSTREET, D. Price stated that the horse raced unkindly throughout and showed a distinct dislike for the track.

Race 5: McInnes Wilson/IOR Enerby QTIS Class 3 Plate 1000m
lst Peaye Arjay 2nd Two Shinko’s 3rd Like A Sequalo 4th- Mr Controller

On return to scale, apprentice J. Daley, rider of BELLE TIVO, made application that her mount be declared a non runner due to, in her opinion, the barrier gate failing to open. After taking evidence from the starter and barrier attendant, and viewing all available patrol films, stewards declared BELLE TIVO a runner.

OUR HIERARCHY (T. Brummell) was slow to begin.

PALOLO DEEP (C. Gilby) raced ungenerously during the early stages.

PERIANDER (M. Tarrant) overraced during the early stages and had to be steadied from the heels of CERTAIN CIRCLES (B. Calkin) nearing the 900m.

CERTAIN CIRCLES laid out rounding the home turn, taking OUR HIERARCHY wider.

Approaching the 200m, PERIANDER was held up on the heels of OUR HIERARCHY and was obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running.

KWIK’N’KOOL (T. Brummell) raced wide throughout.

GIANT’S GATE (C. Kearney) raced wide on the first turn.

Stewards questioned jockey B. Calkin regarding the performance of SHAGERZ. He stated that his mount raced generously until turning for home, however when placed under pressure shortly after, SHAGERZ failed to run on.
