WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD
RACE 1: JOHN LAWSON H'CAP - 1650M
An inquiry into the reason why D Craven failed to fulfil his engagement on BEER BELLY BOB has been adjourned. Subsequently he was replaced by M Carson.
BEER BELLY BOB jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of NEW SHOES.
TIMBUMBURI, which was racing greenly, made the turn out of the straight awkwardly.
APPRENTICE and PRINCESS SERAPH were obliged to race wide throughout.
Approaching the 200m BEER BELLY BOB shifted out to improve and made contact with NEW SHOES.
Stewards accepted the explanations of S Katsidis and B Stewart for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over their declared weight.
RACE 2: BEAUDESERT CAR CENTRE H'CAP - 1650M
NO INCIDENTS
RACE 3: SOUTHSTAR & MITSUBISHI H'CAP - 1200M
LOVE CHAMPAGNE stood flat-footed as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer M Dux was advised that a barrier certificate would have to be obtained prior to the horse’s next start.
CLASS TOPPER and SUPER NOIRE made heavy contact on jumping away.
CLASS TOPPER attempted to buck shortly after the start. Trainer A Bailey was advised that the colt would have to officially barrier trial prior to its next race start.
Shortly after the start EARN A BUCK shifted out and made contact with SUPER NOIRE.
Leaving the 800m CLASS TOPPER commenced to overrace for some distance and shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
After passing the 700m when the pace slackened, EARN A BUCK had to be steadied off the heels of LIKE HER STYLE and SUPER NOIRE, which was following, had to be steadied.
T Pattillo, the rider of LOVE CHAMPAGNE, was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight.
RACE 4: NICHOLE ARMSTRONG H'CAP SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M
On jumping away QUAN shifted in and made heavy contact with MOTH BALL, which resulted in QUAN being taken across the heels of THE MOSSY BANK KID and blundering badly.
Shortly after the start BANDAGES and PEPPEN BAY were hampered by PRINCESS STARBON and MOTH BALL, both of which shifted ground.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that MOTH BALL, after the running of the race, was suffering from mild dehydration. Trainer F Adams was advised that a veterinary certificate would have to be provided prior to MOTH BALL’s next race start.
RACE 5: SOUTHSTAR FORD H'CAP SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M
Due to a Club error, L Moloney was listed as the rider for JENIBRIA when in fact it was B Stewart.
CHIVAS ROYALE and NATIVE FLOWERS were slow to jump.
ESCAPES ME blundered at the start.
Shortly after the start SAHARA SUZY shifted in and made heavy contact with OUR RIVER.
A short distance after the start TO MAKE A BUCK, which was reluctant to hold its position, was hampered between QUICKSHIFT and PETE’S WAYS, both of which shifted ground. As a result of the incident, TO MAKE A BUCK dipped and lost its position.
Approaching the 500m CHIVAS ROYALE had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring QUICKSHIFT. A short distance later SAHARA SUZY shifted out abruptly behind the tiring QUICKSHIFT and made heavy contact with SEMISYR, forcing that gelding wider on the track. Apprentice S Morris, the rider of SAHARA SUZY, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear.
Approaching the home turn TO MAKE A BUCK made heavy contact with the running rail.
B Stewart, the rider of JENIBRIA, accidentally dropped his whip rounding the home turn.
RACE 6: MICHAEL ENRIGHT H'CAP - 1400M
Correct weight was delayed when the Judge incorrectly semaphored the number of the 4th placegetter. Following the amended placings, correct weight was declared.
MAGICO and PRINCELY POWER were both slow to begin.
TIGER MALT jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
M Bennett, the rider of TIGER MALT, accidentally dropped his whip close to the finishing line.
Acting on a report from swab official Mr C Ferguson, stewards interviewed trainer M Lakey and registered stablehand A Lakey in regard to the administration of a substance to BALIUS prior to Race 6. After taking evidence from all parties, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed to enable the analysis of substances found in Mr Lakey’s possession. A post-race swab sample was taken from BALIUS.
RACE 7: MARK HUEBNER H'CAP - 1100M
VITAL ASSET jumped away awkwardly and shortly after shifted out and made contact with MANDY’S CHARM.
RACE 8: HUEBNER TOYOTA H'CAP - 1400M
Approaching the 100m ILUMBAH was tightened for room between CAPTAIN SKUTTLE and KIRRANE, both of which shifted ground.
RACE 9: LAWSON HOLDEN H’CAP – 1300M
JEWEL OF THE NIGHT, which was kicked by the Clerk of the Course’s horse, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
RED BOY jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
ZOFFIN was slow to begin.
ALL WINNERS AND BALIUS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
