RACE 3: AMERICAN ODYSSEY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1400M
When questioned regarding the performance of CHOKWE today, apprentice J P Stanley explained that he was able to get his mount in a forward position in behind the leader in the early stages, however leaving the 600m he did attempt to obtain a run on the fence to the inside of WUVOKA but was unable to when WUVOKA shifted back to the fence. From this point on was unable to go forward at any stage in the home straight. Stewards questioned trainer R Heathcote and confirmed that in his opinion the result may have been different had CHOKWE been able to obtain clear running leaving the 600m. A veterinary examination of CHOKWE after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities. Their explanations were noted.
RACE 4: BLU TUSMANI SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1400M
Stewards considered an objection lodged by L Harris, the rider of AWESOME WEATHER, which finished second, against MEMBREO (S Katsidis) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference after leaving the 500m. On the evidence, the stewards were of the view that near the 450m MEMBREO did shift out and make contact with AWESOME WEATHER, however they formed the opinion that the degree of interference and the manner in which the two horses finished off the race did not justify an alteration to the placings. Therefore, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared.
For a short distance after the start ENDURANCE was crowded for room between NORTHERN LOUIS, which shifted out, and JETONG, which laid in and away from AWESOME WEATHER.
A Gillett (OCEAN BOY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that rounding the home turn he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding along, causing crowding to THE MISH and JENIBRIA which was checked. A Gillett’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 21 June, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 5 July 2000.
RACE 5: SANTORINI SERVICES MITAVITE H'CAP - 1100M

RACE 6: SHINKO FOREST H'CAP - 1200M
CHALEUR and FRAGRANCE were both slow away.
Inside the 500m MANDY’S CHARM had to be eased to avoid the heels of MERRAN.
Stewards questioned L Hill regarding the performance of CHALEUR today and he explained that his mount was fractious in the barriers and this was the reason why his mount was slow away. He added that after the incident at the start, he was obliged to cross over to the fence and work into the race leaving the 800m and in his opinion, in all the circumstances, the filly’s performance was creditable.
RACE 7: GLENLOGAN PARK STUD BEAUDESERT CUP - 1400M
Trainer M Dux was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for BAGOLINO by the prescribed time.
Inside the final 200m BAGOLINO was disappointed for clear running.
