Trainer R. Ludwig and apprentice A. Gould were questioned regarding her riding of PALATINO. A. Gould stated that she had been instructed to allow the gelding to settle in the early stages and improve gradually. A. Gould added that approaching the home turn she elected to obtain a run to the inside rather than racing wide and was held up for a short distance before having to be steadied off heels near the 100m.. Trainer R. Ludwig confirmed the instructions but had anticipated that the horse would settle just behind the leaders.. A. Gould was advised that her ride lacked initiative from the 400m., in that after obtaining a run to the inside of LIVING ART, she then elected to go to the inside, which resulted in PALATINO having to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring HANDY OSCAR near the 100m.. Stewards also advised A. Gould that the manner in which she altered course to the outside at the 100m. to avoid heels was of concern to the stewards.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
