STEWARDS PANEL: Mr R. Sanders (Chairman); Mr S. Railton; Mr J. Hackett; Mr D. Aurisch; Mr J. Williamson (Cadet).
WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD
GENERAL: Trainers M. Nilon and R. Whalley was fined $100 for failing to renew their licences by the required time.
RACE 1: KEVIN KING H'CAP - 950M.
STUMPY JESTER jumped outwards at the start, making contact with SHOW DEFIANCE.
Approaching the 600m., BLUE ON GREEN, which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied off the heels of SHOW DEFIANCE, which shifted in slightly. Apprentice D. Gay, rider of SHOW DEFIANCE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
RACE 2: LEO MURPHY H'CAP - 1300M.
Rounding the home turn, BIG KASEY became unbalanced and shifted out, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of GOLD ARCH.
STAR DAUGHTER was inclined to hang out from the 600m. until after straightening.
Approaching the 1100m, PHILIBE shifted in, making contact with EUSTON ROAD.
RACE 3: TATTERSALL'S BOWLS CLUB H'CAP - 1100M.
Trainer G. Copley was fined $100 for failing to effect the transfer of ownership for PUISSARK. G. Copley was advised that the nomination of PUISSARK would be refused until a transfer of ownership was effected.
VANITY FAIR jumped away awkwardly.
RAW ACTION hung out in the middle stages.
MADIBA was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
TELKALA was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 4: JIM DEERAIN MEMORIAL SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M.
SPRINGO, SHOW MARTIAL and EAST HENDRED were slow to begin.
Following the event, the club's veterinary surgeon reported that TEMPLE DANCE was shin sore and showing signs of a respiratory infection, and that OODLES 'N' BOODLES was acutely shin sore. Trainer B. Mahon was advised that OODLES 'N' BOODLES, which raced ungenerously throughout, would be required to trial satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
RACE 5: TREASURY CASINO H'CAP - 1100M.
BATON was unable to improve from after passing the 500m. until rounding the home turn.
Shortly after straightening, ANNABELLE'S PRIDE had to be steadied off the heels of BATON. A. Merritt, rider of BATON, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
RACE 6: MOUNT OLIVET SUPPORTERS H'CAP - 1600M.
Approaching the 200m., ENVISION shifted out around the heels of GOING FOR GOLD and in doing so made contact with SNADINI DESIGN. A short distance later, RAW TORQUE was obliged to alter course around the heels of FOREVER GRAND, resulting in RAW TORQUE making contact with NEW RAIN.
RACE 7: XXXX MOUNT OLIVET H'CAP - 1400M.
Apprentice D. Gay was reprimanded for failing to claim his full allowance on DON'T SNOW ME.
Apprentice D. Gay, in the presence of his master, M. Lakey, were questioned regarding D. Gay's riding of DON'T SNOW ME and why it covered more ground than necessary in the early and middle stages. Trainer Lakey took responsibility for apprentice Gay riding DON'T SNOW ME in the fashion that he did. He explained that prior to the meeting, both had walked the track and had determined that the racing surface approximately 4 horses wide and beyond was superior to that closer to the fence. Stewards noted the explanation.
RACE 8: BREAKFAST CREEK CRICKET CLUB H'CAP - 1400M.
Approaching the 900m., MR. JAMAICA, which was pulling hard, shifted out and made solid contact with the hind quarters of MARX, resulting in M. Kawaguchi, rider of MARX, becoming unbalanced and almost dislodged from the gelding.
Jockey W. Moore and trainer L. Tipper were questioned regarding the reason for LEE SHORE being ridden in a rearward position today as opposed to the mare's previous starts. W. Moore stated that his instructions were to ride LEE SHORE in a forward position today however after settling behind the leader, NADEED'S LIMIT, at the 1100m., he was then taken back through the field as other runners improved forward of NADEED'S LIMIT. Trainer L. Tipper confirmed the instructions. Stewards noted their explanations.
Trainer R. Whalley reported that MR. JAMAICA sustained minor lacerations to the off hind pastern.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
