BEAUDESERT RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.31.8.01

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr R. Sanders (Chairman); Mr J. Hackett, Mr G. Hargraves, Mr W. Birch.

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD



RACE 1: EPSON LODGE H'CAP - 1100M.

PLISSIT stood flatfooted as the gates were released and lost ground.

HIGH SPARKLE was slow to begin.

DEFINITE DECISION was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

A veterinary examination of JUST FAITH following the event revealed the gelding had sustained a small laceration to the near knee and off hock.

A veterinary examination of PLISSIT failed to reveal any abnormality.



RACE 2: NOBLE PARK H'CAP - 1400M.

MISS CANTHRILL jumped inwards at the start, taking PAT'S ORPHAN in on to MADIBA, which was hampered.

INEVITABLE CHOICE was slow to begin.

Inside the 100m., MADIBA had to be checked when disappointed for a run between DUNDEE TICKLER and DISPERSE.

J. Taylor and stable foreman Mr D. Brown were questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of SKIMMING. J. Taylor stated that the filly travelled well in the early stages just off the pace, however was under pressure at the 600m.. Mr D. Brown explained that SKIMMING had pleased in its work leading up to today's event, however was disappointed with its effort today. He advised stewards that SKIMMING would now be spelled, and undertook to report any abnormality that becomes apparent in the days following the event which may have had a bearing on the performance.

A veterinary examination of SKIMMING following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 3: BENWERRIN LODGE H'CAP - 1200M.

No racing incidents.




RACE 4: ROYSTON STUD & A&V VET SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M.

Approaching the 900m., ANELECT had to be checked when racing the inside of CARISSIMA, which was inclined to hang in despite the efforts of its rider.

MYSTERIOUS MISS was forced to race wide throughout.

Nearing the 450m., KIMBERLEY COOL had to be steadied off the heels of DARBEAR, which shifted out slightly.



RACE 5: LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT PALMADAY H'CAP - 1400M.

LARNI was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.

Rounding the home turn, DONBRODI shifted out, taking BLOOD COVENANT out on to the hind quarters of KAYTE BE, which became unbalanced and made contact with FEEL THE BLUES.

Near the 150m., FEEL THE BLUES was inconvenienced by LARNI, which shifted in.



RACE 6: THE PRYDES BDTA H'CAP - 1400M.

ZAPATEADO, which sustained injuries after getting down in the barriers, was withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 3.58 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on ZAPATEADO were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer Mr C. Smith was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier test certificate for ZAPATEADO prior to its next race start.



RACE 7:FITTON INSURANCE BROKERS H'CAP - 1100M.

SPLENDENT MISSILE jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 950m., WHIZCAT shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of CHARSKI.

At the 900m., BITUIN MARIKIT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CORAL ISLE, which was inclined to lay in.

Approaching the 600m., IGNITED, which was inclined to overrace, had to be steadied off the heels of CAMALEIS.

As W. J. Cook (TRIBAL FIRE) had left the course, an inquiry into the reason for TRIBAL FIRE becoming unbalanced and losing ground on the home turn was adjourned to a date to be fixed..


RACE 8: GLENLOGAN PARK H'CAP - 1100M.

Stewards questioned K. Purdy regarding her riding of CIPOLLINI. K. Purdy stated that despite her efforts, the gelding was unable to maintain contact with the body of the field due to the early speed. She further added that the gelding was reluctant to improve its position in the middle stages, and she then elected keep to the inside rounding the home turn to save ground. K. Purdy explained that CIPOLLINI ran home fairly, however in her opinion the gelding may be looking for further ground. Whilst stewards noted the explanation, K. Purdy was nonetheless advised they expected her to display more urgency on her mounts in the middle stages and early part of the straight.


ALL WINNERS AND SKIMMING WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
