BEAUDESERT RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.22.3.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr R. Sanders (Chairman); Mr C. Clifford, Mr D. Hensler, Mr W. Flynn.

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD

RACE 1: BEAUDESERT RSL H'CAP - 1200M.

EYES FLYING, MOONEBA GIRL, WELSH TART and SEEKING FAME were slow to begin.

WARIALDA HONEY jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 900m., I LOVE MONEY had to be checked off the heels of ALL THAT GLITTER, which became unbalanced and shifted out after making contact with the running rail. ARINNA, which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence.

When the pace slackened approaching the first turn, ALL THAT GLITTER was obliged to shift out abruptly off the heels of WARIALDA HONEY, resulting in I LOVE MONEY being hampered, becoming unbalanced and shifting out, making contact with the hind quarters of FIRE SPIRIT. ARINNA, which was following, had to be checked in this incident.


RACE 2: BUNDY RUM & COLA H'CAP - 1400M.

BATTLER'S PRINCE jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 950m., IN THE JUDGE'S BOX had to be steadied off the heels of EXCELLENT. SYNNING, which was following, also had to be steadied.

Rounding the home turn, CHOICE VARIETY was held up for clear running.

Stewards questioned apprentice H. Akiyama regarding the manner in which he rode OUR QUIET MAN from the entrance of the straight to the finish of the race as they were concerned regarding his use of vigour in this section. He stated that he placed his mount under pressure at the 400m. and, in his opinion, the colt was beaten at the 200m.. Stewards noted his explanation, however apprentice Akiyama was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish of the race.

RACE 3: BEAUDY PUB H'CAP - 1100M.

GRAND DIVA, KAZZOOIE and SIR LANGARA were slow to begin.

ZEQHAUTHOR jumped outwards at the start and made contact with ICY SNIP.

ICY SNIP was inclined to overrace in the early stages, and approaching the first turn, had to be checked off the heels of DREAM TRAP.

Near the finish line, KIMBERLEY COOL was crowded for room by COOROOMAN STAR, which shifted in under pressure.


RACE 4: JIMBOOMBA TAVERN H'CAP - 1100M.

Due to a clerical error, A. Kennedy was not shown in the racebook as the rider of DISTNCT DANGER, GEM OF THE SOUTH (Race 5) and BECKONING DANCER (Race 7).

FIREFOOT REGAL jumped away awkwardly at the start, making heavy contact with CYGRET, resulting in apprentice H. Akiyama becoming unbalanced and CYGRET losing considerable ground.

DISTINCT DANGER also began awkwardly.

Rounding the home turn, DISTNCT DANGER was held up for clear running.

TOP VALI bled during the event. TOP VALI will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

A post race veterinary examination of CYGRET failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 5: DARK & STORMY H'CAP - 1200M.

MICKYMOO jumped outwards at the start and made contact with FLYING SHOES.

POLLYANNA ANNA was slow to begin.

ROYAL CARTOOSH jumped awkwardly.

Near the 950m., SICALOU and THE EMMYS made contact, resulting in SICALOU becoming unbalanced.

At the 400m., SICALOU was crowded for room by THE EMMYS, which was inclined to lay in.


RACE 6: GREENBANK RSL H'CAP - 1200M.

NOODOO was slow to begin.

SMOKEY COCHRANE jumped awkwardly.

FLAMING GOD, HULA MASTER and GRAND HUNTER were all hampered shortly after the start between ANOTHER GENERAL, which shifted in, and MELTIDE, which shifted out.

Jockey R. Morris, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in at the 850m., when not sufficiently clear of MELTIDE, causing that horse to be taken in on to SKILFUL NIGHT, which in turn shifted in on to MOYNIHAN, resulting in MOYNIHAN having to be checked. R. Morris was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 27 March, and to expire at midnight, 7 April 2002.

A. Kennedy, rider of GRAND HUNTER, pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift out to improve around the heels of FLAMING GOD, resulting in NOODOO having to be checked. A. Kennedy was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 27 March, and to expire at midnight, 7 April 2002. A. Gillett, rider of NOODOO, was severely reprimanded for the standard of his evidence given at this inquiry.

Approaching the 100m., GRAND HUNTER shifted in under pressure, taking FLAMING GOD in on to SKILFUL NIGHT, which was taken across the heels of BRAVE GENTLEMAN.


RACE 7: BUNDABERG RUM CUP - 1400M.

LADY IMOLA was fractious in the barriers, resulting in R. Goltz being dislodged. LADY IMOLA was then unable to be reloaded and was declared a late scratching at 4.13 p.m. . Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on LADY IMOLA were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of .10 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer L. Paton was advised she would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for LADY IMOLA prior to its next race start.

EVIL DEED jumped away awkwardly and made contact with BLARNEY'S BEST.

For the majority of the straight, BETHEL was held up for clear running.


RACE 8: CANUNGRA HOTEL H'CAP - 1650M.

FLYING CARD was slow to begin.

ESTIMATION and PROSPECTOR KING made contact on jumping away.

ENVISION raced wide throughout.

PROSPECTOR KING raced wide in the middle stages.

A post race veterinary examination of PROSPECTOR KING revealed the gelding to be sore in the off fore fetlock.

ALL WINNERS AND TOP VALI WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
