GENERAL
As C Schumacher was unable to ride due to riding commitments at the Gold Coast, the following replacement was approved:
Race 1, Regal Garter – K Purdy
As S McDonald was indisposed, the following replacements were approved:
Race 2, Northick – R Pittman
Race 4, Anlezark – B Thomson
RACE 1: XXXX Light Bitter Open H’Cap - 1650M
SUNDAE JESTER and REGAL GARTER were both slow to begin.
SUNDAE JESTER was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
C Eaton was reprimanded for failing to weight in for fifth place on TEKWILA.
THE WINNER IDLE WARRIOR WAS SWABBED
RACE 2: XXXX Gold Maiden Plate - 1300M
Stewards approved the replacement of R Pittman on Northick as no apprentice was available.
FERMEZ LA BOUCHE and JIKATEM were both slow to begin.
WEONA GOLD jumped out at the start making contact with UNCLE BADE taking that runner out onto GO NOW which had to be checked off the heels of NORTHICK.
GO NOW shifted out near the 1000m when racing ungenerously and made heavy contact with CHIEF SINGER who became unbalanced and had to be steadied.
As the pace slackened near the 800m NORTHICK over raced onto the heels of KELLIE’S WAY and had to be steadied, CHIEF SINGER which was following also had to be steadied.
CLASE BOY and WIRRADILLA were both obliged to race wide throughout.
GOOD QUESTION had to be eased around the heels of CASH ALL OVER which shifted in near the 150m.
L Karklis was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on FERMEZ LA BOUCHE.
THE WINNER DREAM RUNNER WAS SWABBED
RACE 3: Criglea-Marr’s Burnett to the Beach Series Class 3 H’Cap – 1100M
Stewards approved the late gear change of blinkers on SOLIDIFIED as a clerical error had been made on the Trainers Service Centre web site by trainer J Lyons. Stewards accepted his explanation.
Trainer D Peoples was advised that a warning would be placed on WRESTED for being difficult to load.
MYSTIC DREAM and MANSWORD were both slow to begin.
WRESTED jumped away awkwardly.
BY DEFAULT AND WARRIOR EXPRESS were both obliged to race wide throughout.
MANSWORD was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
BY DEFAULT had to be eased over the concluding stages off MYSTIC DREAM which shifted in under pressure.
A post race vet examination revealed RORY’S NORTH had sustained a small laceration to its tongue.
RACE 4: Castlemaine QTIS 2-Y-O H’Cap - 1100M
Trainer K Hickmott was advised that TAABINGA STEEL, which was difficult to load, would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
MA CHETT was slow to begin.
BINDA GREY jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with TAABINGA STEEL.
CAPTAIN BLIGH hung out rounding the first turn taking ANLEZARK wider on the track.
Approaching the 700m JUST LIKE JOSIE over raced onto the heels of AFLEET ZEPHYR and had to be checked.
CAPTAIN BLIGH had to be steadied near the 600m off the heels of ANLEZARK which shifted in. App B Thomson was reprimanded for shifting ground when insufficiently clear.
L Appo was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip on MILL CREEK.
THE WINNER AFLEET ZEPHYR WAS SWABBED
RACE 5: XXXX Bitter Class B H’Cap - 1400M
On return to scale App R Hatano, rider of the 2nd placegetter CANONCITY, lodged an objection against OPPOSING VIEW (R Morris) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages. Whilst it was noted that even if contact had been made between the two runners, it occurred one stride before the post and stewards could not be satisfied that the interference suffered warranted a reversal of the placing’s therefore the protest was dismissed.
OPPOSING VIEW was slow to begin.
MIJA reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.
LAGERETTE blundered on jumping away.
FRAAR TOO TIPSY raced in restricted room near the 1000m.
WOODIDIERE shifted out near the 950m and made heavy contact with LAGERETTE.
LAGERETTE had to be severely checked off the heels of MILLCAY which had compounded rounding the home turn.
The rider of CANONCITY accidentally lost the whip near the 400m.
The rider of WOODIDERE accidentally lost the whip over the concluding stages.
THE WINNER OPPOSING VIEW WAS SWABBED
