Race 1: GREENBANK RSL SERVICES CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 950M:
1st – BEAUTIFUL NICOLA 2nd – BRITS STAR 3rd – MOSCHATA 4th – BARRAMUNDI TOM

Stewards acceded to a request from trainer Ms W Roche to allow BARRAMUNDI TOM to race in winkers and a tongue tie.

BARRAMUNDI TOM (L Appo), BEYOND COURAGE (A Merritt), GRAND BLUE (M Milford) and NO MONICA (H Hamada) were all slow to begin.

OUR IMOGEN LEE (D Sparks) reared as the barriers opened and lost ground.

Approaching the 850m, SPARKLING FLIGHT (G Auckram) and THE BUDSTAR (B Cornell) had to be steadied off the heels of BRITS STAR (D McWhinney) which shifted in. Apprentice D McWhinney was severely reprimanded in this incident.

Leaving the 350m, BARRAMUNDI TOM made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

BRITS STAR raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 2: ROTARY CLUB OF LOGANHOLME CLASS B HANDICAP 950M:
1st – LITTLE MISS BARBIE 2nd – LADY RICH 3rd – MAXCEE 4th – SPIN BOY

LADY RICH (C Priest) was slow to begin.

SON OF A BROM (G Auckram) which was fractious in the barriers jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Leaving the 700m, SPIN BOY (B Cornell) improved onto the heels of HAY BABY (M Milford) and had to be steadied.

Approaching the 400m, SPIN BOY had to be steadied when tightened for room between LADY RICH, and HAY BABY which shifted in slightly.

FOREST LANE (C Eaton) and GO EASY (L Appo) raced wide throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of SON OF A BROM, jockey G Auckram stated that the gelding was very fractious in the barriers prior to the start being affected, and after jumping away awkwardly, lost significant ground. Jockey Auckram further stated that SON OF A BROM did not travel well in the early stages, however in his opinion did finish the race off fairly. Stewards recorded his explanation.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of LITTLE MISS BARBIE, trainer Mr B Golinski stated that LITTLE MISS BARBIE was having its first start back from a lengthy spell. Mr Golinski further added that LITTLE MISS BARBIE had been working well in the lead up to today’s race and in his opinion he was expecting a competitive performance. Stewards recorded his explanation.

Race 3: ALBERT & LOGAN NEWS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M:
1st – DUAL ECHELON 2nd – MYTHICAL KING 3rd – LEGAL FLOSS 4th – DOCTOR WIZZ

LUNAR CYCLE (G Auckram) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1100m, DOCTOR WIZZ (L APPO), DUAL ECHELON (S Drake) and DARTH (B Cornell) all had to be steadied when tightened for room between GO HARD (K Ashton) which shifted out slightly, and MUSASHI OF MIEKO (B Wallace) which was taken in by SILENT TORNADO (Y Yeung Ki). After taking into consideration all the evidence tendered and viewing the stewards patrol footage, stewards did not take the matter any further, however severely admonished jockey Y Yeung Ki for allowing his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear.

Leaving the 400m, LOVE THAT LION (A Merritt) attempted a run between SILENT TORNADO and LEGAL FLOSS (K Sawyers) where there was doubtful room and had to be checked. LUNAR CYCLE and CHASING DREAMS (C Eaton) which were following were also had to be checked as a consequence.

MUSASHI OF MIEKO and DARTH raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 4: ADVICE PLUS FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M :
1st – FOREVER MORE 2nd – AURTOBE 3rd – DANCING BENI 4th – DIVINEINTERVENTION

On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey W Clasohm, rider of the second placegetter, AURTOBE, against FOREVER MORE being declared the winner, alleging interference in the straight. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video, stewards found that in the home straight FOREVER MORE did shift ground inwards on one occasion and cause minor interference to AURTOBE, however stewards were of the opinion that the effect on AURTOBE due to this shift was minimal and did not warrant a reversal of the placings.

BRADASH (L McCoy) and FOREVER MORE (D McWhinney) were tightened for room on jumping away between AURTOBE (W Clasohm) and FLYING HALO (S Drake) both of which shifted ground.

STEORRA (G Auckram) and NONNA MIA (A Kitson) both raced wide in the early stages.

Jockey L McCoy was reprimanded for failing to weigh in for 5th place.

Race 5: BEENLEIGH PULSE FAMILY FITNESS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M:
1st – BASALTIC BANNE 2nd – PAINTERS GOLD 3rd – PARIS LABEL 4th – EFF THREE

As trainer Mr F Tozer advised stewards that he was having jockey troubles prior to the deadline on Thursday, stewards accepted his explanation as to the late declaration of rider for WASN’TME.

AWATERE (B Wallace) was slow to begin.

SUNWAVE (M Milford) raced wide in the early stages of the race.

At approximately the 700m, the breast plate on SUNWAVE broke resulting in the saddle shifting backwards, placing apprentice M Milford at a distinct disadvantage until approaching the 450m, where SUNWAVE fell and dislodged its rider. As apprentice Milford was transported to hospital for further medical examinations, stewards intend to interview him at a later date. GOT THE CASH (W Clasohm), PRINCESS TANA (S Drake) and HE’S TROUBLE (H Hamada) which were following, all had to be checked as a consequence.

Jockey W Clasohm was reprimanded for failing to weigh in for 5th place.
