ISA LEI (T. Harrison), which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground.

Shortly after the start, SWEET SWEET LOVE had to be checked when tightened for room between CHEEKY BINDI and PLAYFUL PARIS (B. Hull), which was taken out when bumped by KINTYRELYUPTOYOU (P. Schmidt).

Apprentice P. Schmidt was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), in that near the 800m, she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SWEET SWEET LOVE (L. Appo) which was taken in tightening the running of DUSTY’S SON (S. Drake) resulting in that runner losing its rightful running. P. Schmidt’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 meetings, to commence at midnight 18 September 2010, which is at the expiration of her most recent suspension, up to and including midnight 1 October 2010. L. Appo the rider of SWEET SWEET LOVE was reprimanded for the standard of evidence he gave during this inquiry.

Race 3: Teys Brothers Supervisors Hyena Class 1 Handicap 1020m
1st – All That 2nd – Regal Prince 3rd – El Aqua 4th – Ollein

Stewards considered an objection lodged by K. Sawyers the rider of REGAL PRINCE, which finished second against ALL THAT (P. Schmidt) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 200m. It was established that leaving the 100m, REGAL PRINCE was tightened for room and had to be checked by its rider when ALL THAT shifted in. After considering the evidence presented, stewards could not be satisfied that the ground lost by REGAL PRINCE exceeded the margin between both horses at the finish and therefore dismissed the protest and correct weight was given on the numbers as semaphored.

At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice P. Schmidt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), in that as the rider of ALL THAT, she permitted her mount to shift in leaving the 100m when insufficiently clear of REGAL PRINCE (K. Sawyers) resulting in that runner having to be checked by its rider and lose its rightful running. P. Schmidt’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 meetings to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred in race one. Stewards further ordered that due to her recent riding record P. Schmidt should be referred to the Racing Queensland Advisory Panel for tutelage.

J. Piper the rider of NOBLE INTENT was reprimanded for failing to weigh as fifth place getter. Further more J. Piper was advised of her obligation to ride her mounts out to the finish line.

When asked to explain the disappointing performance of HAYIL KING DAYL, rider L. Appo stated that the gelding never felt comfortable throughout the event and it was his opinion that there was something amiss with the horse’s action. Trainer T. Gillespie stated that the horse had been successful of late on cushion tracks and that he may look to placing the horse again on that surface.
