Race 1 SCHWEPPES HANDICAP BMK 60 1050M:
VULCANIC DRAGON – began awkwardly. Rider was questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance and stated that the instructions were to go forward, however after beginning awkwardly was unable to obtain a forward position and settled back further than anticipated. Rider further added that the gelding was placed under pressure throughout the event and was unable to improve.
COURT CLOWN – near the 800m had to be steadied from the heels of VULCANIC DRAGON, which shifted in marginally. Apprentice R. Vigar was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
MEANJIN - raced wide for the majority.
ONLINES – raced wide throughout.
TA RARA BOOM DE AY – rider lost offside iron near the 600m and nearside iron near the 400m and was placed at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
Race 2 PREMIERSHIP AWARDS HCP F&M BMK 65 1200M:
STREAM OF LIGHT – made contact with another runner on jumping.
GRANTLY MISS - made contact with another runner on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 800m when the pace of the race slackened and had to be restrained.
STRADA HILL – when the pace of the race slackened near the 800m, the mare commenced to over-race and the rider was forced to shift out to avoid heels, forcing SANDY VIEW to race wider on the track momentarily. STRADA HILL raced wide from that point on.
Race 3 BEAUDESERT HOTEL PLATE 3YO AND UP MAIDEN SET WEIGHTS 1200M:
HE’S A BOOMER – rider was dislodged en route to barriers. Apprentice B. Derbyshire reported that she suffered a harmless fall. Trainer K. Hill was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. Raced greenly in the early stages of the event.
MYSTICAL HAIL – was slow to begin. Rider reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang out in the early stages and raced greenly throughout.
PUNK STAR – slow to begin. Over-raced near the 600m.
RUNNING ON EMPTY – slow to begin.
BREWING MAGIC – began awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted out making contact with another runner.
LES REMARQUABLES – had to be steadied from the heels of another runner near the 1000m.
LIMPIA – raced wide throughout. Rider reported at scale that the mare had a tendency to hang out from the 600m and over the concluding stages.
YETI – raced wide throughout.
LIBERTY MARKET – raced wide throughout. Near the 600m had to steady from the heels of CZEBRAY, which shifted out marginally. J. Hoopert the rider of CZEBRAY was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 4 BARRIER REEF POOLS HCP CLASS 4 1400M:
PALPITATE, SILVER CASTLE and DUDLEY – were all slow into stride.
KISTAMON – raced wide throughout the event.
Race 5 QPS INVESTMENT GROUP HCP RATINGS 0-55 1650M:
TRAPUNTO – Stood flat-footed and lost ground.
BAJA BOY – jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was forced wider on the track when another runner to the gelding’s inside hung out.
FLYING TIGER – jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with its inside barrier gate and was then further inconvenienced by BAJA BOY which began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with that runner. In this incident M. McKenzie rider of FLYING TIGER lost his nearside iron, which placed him at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race. SAYORI, which was following had to be steadied and shifted wider on the track.
TRAPUNTO – forced wider on the track by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion. TRAPUNTO then raced wide throughout.
CHINSKY – passing the winning post on the first occasion was forced to steady when tightened for room to the inside of ZENAWOMANN, which was taken in slightly by WELL PRIMED. Apprentice F. Elliott, the rider of WELL PRIMED was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
ROYAL LAKE – laid out rounding the first turn.
