Race 1: Cordillo Downs, Bowdler English & Wehl Class 2 Handicap
West Sun and Frescille were slow to begin.
Race 2: Visitors Flying Handicap
Tierway jumped away awkwardly.
The saddle on Beats Me shifted back approaching the 400 metres placing its rider R Barone in some difficulty for the remainder of the event.
Trainer G Rieck reported that Tierway pulled up lame in the Near hind.
Race 3: Cattletrain Maiden Plate
Broken Gate was slow to begin.
Approaching the 400 metres Broken Gate shifted out hampering Rivetting Lad. Why Wonder which was following was also hampered. Apprentice F Tsui the rider of Broken Gate was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out.
Race 4: Wesfarmers Landmark Class 6 Plate
The saddle on Rab’s Choice rolled to the off side rounding the home turn, placing Apprentice C Prow at a disadvantage for the remainder on the event.
Race 5: Black Toyota Betoota Cup
Spoilt Rotten jumped away awkwardly.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Mapua(NZ),jockey D Monaghan could offer no excuse other than the gelding was racing clockwise for the first time and didn’t seem comfortable. Trainer G Dawson stated that Mapua(NZ) had worked well in the lead up to today event, however was at a loss to explain the performance today.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Marauding Lass, jockey T Austin could offer no explanation. He further added that the mare travelled well but failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure near the 400 metres.
Race 6 : Clipsal Class 4 Handicap
La Bebe had to be steadied off heels approaching the 800 metres.
The clubs veterinary surgeon report that Arctic Circle pulled up lame in the off fore leg.
