Race 1: BROOKLANDS-FRED BROPHY 3YO 7 Up Maiden Plate 800 Metres
1st – Our Hierarchy 2nd – Letimgo 3rd – All Options 4th – Sweet Miss
ALL OPTIONS (D Rewald) became fractious in the barrier.
OUR HIERARCHY (T Brummell) was slow to begin.
SEQUA STAR (A Spradau) Jumped outwards when released and lost ground and then continued to race greenly throughout.
Jockey D Rewald (ALL OPTIONS) was reminded of his responsibility to always ride his mount out to the line.
Race 2: BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 Metres
1st – Headlight 2nd – Hi Catarun 3rd – Croatian Prince 4th – Cinnamon Road
HEADLIGHT (D Ballard) became fractious in the barrier and when released jumped outwards and brushed HAYILING GOLD (M O’Connell) and then continued to race greenly throughout.
CINNAMON GOLD (App C Pay) began to lay out nearing the 200 mtrs and became awkwardly placed on the heels of CROATRIAN PRINCE (A Spradau) and HAYILING GOLD, was steadied and shifted in to obtain clear running.
Race 3: COCA COLA CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 Metres
1st – Two Shinko’s 2nd – Menotti 3rd –Palolo Deep 4th – Afleet Boy
Correct weight was delayed after the riders of NO KNOWLEDGE (T Brummell) and RECALIBRATE (A Spradau) had stated that their gates were slow to open. After viewing the head on film of the start stewards were of the opinion that the gates were momentarily slow to open but had not materially effected the start and therefore declared both horse’s as runners. Stewards then declared correct weight.
NO KNOWLEDGE shifted in on jumping bumping the hind quarters of MENOTTI (D Rewald) and became unbalanced losing ground.
RECALIBRATE was steadied after the start between MR PERSONALITY (R Bensley) and ROAMING WARRIOR (App A Hozack) which both shifted ground.
MOUNTAIN POET (D Monaghan) lay out during the early stages.
MR PERSONALITY hung out rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 200mtrs PALOLO DEEP (S Oates) lay in nearing the 200mtrs and bumped MOUNTAIN POET resulting in both runners becoming momentarily unbalanced.
Race 4: VB OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES
1st – Storm Seeker 2nd – Samurai Spirit 3rd – Like a Sequalo 4th – Fears
BLAZING MOA was declared a late withdrawal at 2:43pm (prior to the commencement of betting) after it was reported that the horse had failed to arrive on course. Upon further investigation it was revealed that BLAZING MOA had been officially scratched on Thursday 4 September 2008 with RISA but due to some confusion the club was not aware of the scratching.
LIKE A SEQUALO (D Rewald) was crowded at the start between SO SHINY (D Monaghan) and MIND SQUARE (D Jones) which both shifted ground.
Approaching the 800mtrs SO SHINY began to race ungenerously got her head up became awkward on heels and lost ground.
STORM SEEKER (App A Hozack) lay out rounding the home turn and bumped LIKE A SEQUALO resulting in both runners becoming momentary unbalanced.
Race 5: BIRDSVILLE HOTEL CLASS 1 H’CAP 1200m:
1st – Aid and Abet 2nd – Certain Circles 3rd – Desert Knowledge 4th – Hesiod
RENNIE ROAD (R Bensley) was slow to begin.
Jockey S Oates (DANCHA) reported that his saddle slipped during the middle stages and proved difficult to ride out.
Race 6: CARLTON MID-STRENGTH CLASS 4 H’CAP 1200m:
1st – King’s Valour 2nd – Grey Dragon 3rd – Yukon Pride 4th – Ben Buckler
KINGS VALOUR (A Spradau) jumped out when released and bumped BEN BUCKLER (M O’Connell).
GREY DRAGON (R Bensley) jumped out at the start and continued to shift out for a short distance.
KINGS VALOUR became awkward on the heels of YUKON PRIDE (R Hancock) and GREY DRAGON nearing the 600mtrs and was steadied.
