POWER SEEKER (P Thureson) raced erratically during the race. Jockey P Thureson was of the opinion that the horse did not handle the dirt track after coming of grass.

LET’S GO PLATINUM (S Oates) attempted to hang at about the 800m.
Race 5 Open Handicap – 1050 Metres- 5 Starters
T Austin indisposed and replaced by O Galea on FORMAL OFFER (NZ). After straightening FORMAL OFFER (NZ) shifted out coming into contact with FUNAMENTO (T Brummell) causing that horse to change stride. O Galea was reprimanded. On straightening MYSTIC BLUE (R Tilley) angled for a run inside DOWN HILL RUN (P Thureson) and POETIC JOKER ( R Graveson). The run closed prior to MYSTIC BLUE being able to take it and that horse had to ease. R Tilley stated that his mount had not been able to muster enough speed to take the run when it opened. P Thureson and R Graveson were warned about allowing their mounts to shift back to the rail after leaving a run open.
