SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

At Emerald on 5th June 2010, a complaint was lodged by Mr. R. Crow (Snr) in relation to a bet he had with Bookmaker’s Clerk P. Turner (fielding on behalf of J Turner). Stewards today sought an explanation from Mr. Turner in relation to this matter and his conduct in dealing with Mr. Crow (Snr). Stewards took no action in regard to the bet however advised Mr. Turner to conduct himself in a professional manner at all times whilst officiating at a race meeting.

EMERALD- 17th July 2010

Race 1- Following this race meeting, Trainer M Barnham reported to Stewards that GENERAL POMPEI had been galloped on behind, which may had affected the performance of the horse.

Race 3- Stewards sought an explanation from Trainer J O’Sing and evidence from the Trainer’s Service Centre (TSC) regarding the notification that WEEKEND SHOPPER had gained a start after initially being declared a second emergency. It was established that the usual protocol had not been followed in this instance resulting in a miscommunication between the TSC and Mr. O’Sing. After taking this into account, Stewards reprimanded Mr. O’Sing for negligence in that he had failed to ascertain that WEEKEND SHOPPER had gained a start.

Race 1: Zinc Hi Class B Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – NED’S OUTLAW 2nd – SHY BUCK 3rd – NEVACANTEL 4th – MRSOOTY

PICCOLO KNIGHT & DANE KING were scratched at scratching time due to no available riders.

Prior to the start, DYNAMITE DIXIE (S. Evans) was fractious in the barrier.

MRSOOTY (M. Barnham) was slow to begin.

At approximately the 900 metres, DYNAMITE DIXIE shifted in and away from PENNY STIRLING (App F. Freihaut) which has shifted in slightly.

On return to scale, Jockey S. Evans reported DYNAMITE DIXIE had received an injury to its head when fractious in the barrier. A post-race veterinary confirmed the mare had a deep laceration to its head. Trainer R. Vagg advised the mare was to be retire from his stable however reminded of his obligations to report to Stewards anything which may have affected the performance of a horse as soon as practicable. AR 140(b)

Apprentice H O’Hara was reprimanded for failing to claim to her riding weight. In considering this matter, Stewards took into account her good record since returning to race riding.

Race 2: WMS Surveys Open Handicap- 1000 metres
1st - MASSIAH 2nd - RUBY FRISCO 3rd - SNAGAPOT 4th – HEDARNY

At the start, SNAGAPOT (App H O’Hara) was hampered when MASSIAH (App F. Freihaut) was taken out by HEDARNY (S. Sheargold) which had jumped outwards.

RUBY FRISCO (S. Evans) was slow to begin and raced wide throughout.

Correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer N. King to view the photo finish for second. After doing so, Trainer N. King was satisfied as to the judge’s placing and correct weight was declared.

A post-race veterinary inspection of MONOTOP failed to reveal any apparent abnormality.

Race 3: BMA QTIS Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
1st – PUSSY LALA 2nd – JAYDEEANCOKE 3rd - THAT’S BOBBYS GIRL 4th – EXCLUSIVE COMPANY

TOMARY FLAME was scratched at scratching time due to no available rider.

JAYDEEANCOKE (N. Patchett) went down behind on jumping away and lost some ground. Shortly after the start, JAYDEEANCOKE was inconvenienced when PUSSY LALA (M. Cant) shifted out after making contact with THAT’S BOBBYS GIRL (App H O’Hara) which had jumped out.

JAYDEEANCOKE raced wide on the track throughout to avoid dirt coming back.

Correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer K. Price to view the photo finish for third. After doing so, Trainer K. Price was satisfied as to the judge’s placing and correct weight was declared.


Race 4: LDE Corporation Class 5 Handicap- 1100 metres
1st – TOKYO TANGO 2nd – SATZERO 3rd – IN BOLD FASHION 4th – INFRINGEMENT

In consultation with the President, Stewards amended the starting time for Race 4 to start at 3.45pm and Race 5 at 4.20pm. Public announcements were made advising of this change.

Shortly after the start, IN BOLD FASHION (M. Barnham) shifted out and INFRINGEMENT (App F Freihaut) was taken outward and SATZERO (S. Evans) was steadied.

Race 5: Mineworkers/ Country Club Class 3 Plate- 1400 metres
1st - MADAGASCAR 2nd - ACE IN THE HOLE 3rd - BERRIMA BOOGIE 4th – JACK’S STREET

Trainer’s Representative L. Challacombe advised Stewards he would instruct Jockey N. Patchett to ride MARAQUITAS behind the pace, if possible, as it was the mare’s first attempt at 1400m and in an attempt to get the mare to settle in its races. MARAQUITAS was ridden accordingly to approximately the 800 metres as which point the mare obtained the lead when pulling fiercely, and commenced to lose ground from approximately the 300 metres.

MADAGASCAR (M. Barnham) race wide throughout the race.
