GENERAL
 
Upon arrival at the course, Stewards identified soft sections of the track at the 1250m and 950m. Prior to the running of race 1, following a track inspection by Stewards and a delegation of senior riders, the track was declared suitable for racing.
 
 
Race 1: HILLERY GROUP OSCAR FINALIST REGIONAL APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN HANDICAP        1200 M
 
 
ANSWERING – Over-raced in the early stages. At the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels, hampering OUR BERLINETTA.
 
MOUNT MARGARET – Bumped with MISHANI TWILIGHT upon jumping.
 
OUR LITTLE SPIRIT – Began awkwardly. Upon returning to scale, jockey P. Romeo reported that his mount hung out badly rounding the home turn. Tailed off from the remainder of the field from the 300m and took no further competitive part in the event.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. McGovern was advised that the horse would require a satisfactory trial prior to racing again.
 
OUR BELINETTA – After being hampered by ANSWERING, preceded to race ungenerously for a short distance. Trainer T. Cook reported that OUR BERLINETTA had drew air through the rear passage in running and that he would have a veterinary procedure conducted on the filly.
 
HUGHIE VUITTON – Raced in a three-wide position with cover for the middle stages.
 
BLACK ‘N’ DEADLY – Shifted out on jumping causing a tightening.
 
MISHANI TWILIGHT – Bumped with MOUNT MARGARET upon jumping and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
MISHANI TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Upon returning to scale, jockey A.Sewell reported that his mount hung in over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 2: HILLERY GROUP GORDONS QUARRY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
 
IL FAGIOLO – Jockey C.Spry reported that his mount felt uncomfortable over the concluding stages. A post-race examination revealed lameness in the near side foreleg. Trainer J. Russo was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
RISING PROPHET –Underwent a veterinary inspection at the barriers and was passed fit to race.Shifted in on jumping hampering THIDA.
 
TINY MOUNTAIN – Steadied at the 800m after improving onto the heels of OLYMPIC MOTTO. Disappointed for a run at the 250m.
 
MAMA’s MAN – Shifted out on jumping hampering THIDA. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
OLD FASHIONED ROSE – Began awkwardly.
 
HERO OF THE PACK – Difficult to load. A warning was issued to trainer A.Payne.
 
JUST LIKE ROSIE – Began awkwardly. Held up making the home turn and was unable to improve its position and failed to secure clear running until the 150m.
 
THE COMPANY – Commenced to lose ground at the 600m and finished a considerable distance behind the field. A post-race examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
THIDA – Tightened for room upon jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
KEY TO THE ZOU – Raced wide throughout. Hung in rounding the home turn and brushed OLYMPIC MOTTO. Commenced to race ungenerously at the 150m placing the rider at a disadvantage.
 
OLYMPIC MOTTO – Permission was granted for Apprentice G. Semmens to ride OLYMPIC MOTTO with no claim.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 3: HILLERY GROUP FAMILY/COMMUNITY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1810 M
 
SHADOW GODDESS – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Stanley reported at scale that his mount had a tendency to lay in throughout the event. Raced wide for the majority. Following the event, a post-race examination revealed lameness due to a burst abscess in the off-front hoof.
 
ANSELMO – Brushed with BRETON on jumping. Bumped at the 200m.
 
BRETON – Brushed with ANSELMO on jumping. Bumped at the 200m.
 
SAND AND OCEAN – Jockey E. Molloy dismounted at the conclusion of the event and a post-race examination revealed SAND AND OCEAN to be lame in the right fore fetlock. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
STILLWATER – Shifted out on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: HILLERY GROUP QLD TRAINING AWARDS REGIONAL WINNER BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1470 M
 
 
HIGHER LOVE – Over-raced turning into the back straight.
 
MISTA OMEGA – Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position near the rail.
 
KEFALONIA – Finished tailed off from the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KEIGHLEY SUN - Underwent a veterinary inspection at the barriers and was passed fit to race.
 
SACRED LEGACY (NZ) – Slow into stride.
 
LADY MASQUERADE – Raced fiercely over the early and middle stages of the event. Raced ungenerously over the concluding stages.
 
PLUCKERCARN – Passing the 1300m commenced to over-race and as a result shifted out into a three wide position.
 
Race 5: HILLERY GROUP QUARRY SUPPLIES OPEN HANDICAP       1000 M
 
 
GAMBOA – Shifted out on jumping hampering COLLOMBATTI.
 
ACOUSTIX – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Approaching the 100m, shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip, taking SUPREME PRINCE inwards onto HIT SNOOZE which had to be steadied. Apprentice Jockey N. Seymour was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR 131(a) and advised in similar circumstances to stop riding and straighten her mount.

HIT SNOOZE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
COLLOMBATTI – Tightened for room at the start.
 
SUPREME PRINCE – Shifted in on jumping hampering COLLOMBATTI. Contacted the running rail at the 150m after ACOUSTIX shifted in.
 
 
Race 6: HILLERY GROUP QLD TELSTRA BEST OF BUSINESS AWARDS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
 
PUTSCH (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MAKE IT HAPPEN – Contacted SILENT ANGEL on jumping.
 
PEGGIE BOOM – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIVATE SECTOR – Awkward to begin.
 
SILENT ANGEL – Contacted MAKE IT HAPPEN on jumping.
 
RUPERT’S BOY – Blundered at the 1100m.
 
CHATILLY – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE ABYSS (NZ) – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 7: HILLERY GROUP RAIL MAINTENANCE SPECIALISTS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing J. Stanley, rider of JAKAMA and Stewards to view the start of the event. After doing so it was established that JAKAMA stood flat-footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. As the cause of JAKAMA missing the start was due to its own barrier manners, correct weight was subsequently declared on the semaphored placings. Trainer L. Hatch was advised the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

SAVVY SOVEREIGN – Improved onto the heels of CUDYADO at the 100m and was unable to be tested over the concluding stages.
 
HALLSIDE HAMMER – Shifted out shortly after the start, taking OLD SCHOOL out onto FLUTTERING.
 
OLD SCHOOL – Tightened for room at the 100m when racing between KISS ME LATER and WISE DRAGON. Jockeys G. Kliese (KISS ME LATER) and Apprentice I.Teh (WISE DRAGON) were issued with reprimands pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing their mounts to shift ground.
 
 
Race 8: HILLERY GROUP CIVIL & MINING QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
 
TIME FOR PEACE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CHALKEY – Shifted in on jumping bumping SO ODELIA.
 
SO ODELIA – Shifted out on jumping bumping CHALKEY.
 
WICKLOW LASS – Held up for clear running until the 100m.
 
WINNING SAGA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GOOD GIRL – Raced wide for the majority.
 
LISTEN LISTEN – A post-race veterinary inspection revealed a seasonal complaint.
