CHILLDOWN (R. Kerwin) was slow to begin.
MCNEICE (T. Banks) began awkwardly.
Apprentice M. Cox pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 800m she did permit JONDY TAAN to shift in when insufficiently clear of EARWIGG (I. Coombes) and HERE’S LUCY (L. Appo), resulting in both those runners having to be checked by their riders when tightened between JONDY TAAN and BOXSA (C. Kearney). Apprentice M. Cox’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 5 meetings, to commence midnight 18 May 2013, up unto and including 26 May 2013.
EARWIGG hung out rounding the home turn.
DR HOUSE (C. Jokic) laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 2: South Burnett Times / BGA Agri Services QTIS Maiden Handicap 1200m

STILTSKIN and SPEDELLA were declared late scratchings at 9.55 am and 12.05 pm respectively when no riders were available.
RUBYRICHBOY (C. Jokic) and FEROCIOUSJEWEL ( M. Cox) both refused to be loaded and were declared late scratchings by order of stewards at 2.00pm. On declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered all monies invested on RUBYRICHBOY and FEROCIOUSJEWEL to be refunded. Further, as access was not available to the APN deduction calculator, stewards utilising the Racing Queensland Schedule of Deductions, ordered the deductions of 15 cents to the face value of all win bets, and 15 cents to the face value of all place bets. Trainer J. Curtain was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required for each runner prior to their next race start.
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of the fourth placed runner, OUTBACK IMAGE, to view the official photo finish print for third placing. After viewing the print, connections were satisfied with the Judge’s placings.
Correct weight was further delayed to allow connections of the third placed runner, MURPHY’S SUNRISE, and fourth placed runner, OUTBACK IMAGE, to view the race patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds for objection against the first placed runner, STEP UP LADY. After viewing the race patrol footage, both connections declined to lodge an objection.
MURPHY’S SUNRISE (D. McIntosh) and OUTBACK IMAGE (R. Kirwan) lost ground when tightened on jumping away between CREONA’S GIFT (L. Appo) which shifted in, and AMUNDSEN BOY (B. Derbyshire) which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.
STEP UP LADY (M. Crawford) raced wide the majority of the event.
Race 3: Ken Mills / Agforce / J & B Moloney Memorial Patrons Cup Class 4 Handicap 1200m
1st – Love Our Girls 2nd- Desert Lair 3rd- Cyclone Steve 4th- Jeune Baby Jeune
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consult with the Judge regarding the officially semaphored numbers of 2 – 3 – 8 – 5 – 1. After consultation, and reviewing the official photo finish print, stewards amended the placings in accordance with AR156(3), to be 2 - 3 – 8 – 1 – 5, and correct weight was declared on these numbers.
NAVAL ACTION (M. Cox) was slow to begin.
EPONA FIRE (L. Appo) shifted in at the start and made contact with JEUNE BABY JEUNE (D. McIntosh).
JEUNE BABY JEUNE had to be steadied near the 800m when tightened for room to the inside of EPONA FIRE, which was taken in by DESERT LAIR (R. Kerwin), which was inclined to lay in despite the efforts of it’s rider.
LOVE OUR GIRLS (B. Derbyshire) and HARDCORE PLAY (C. Jokic) raced wide the majority of the event.
Race 4: Go Green Generation / Qld Country Life / 4SB 1071 Open Handicap 1200m

ENDLESS TOWER (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.
SANDHILL PRIDE (R. Kerwin) was slow into stride.
DULBYDILLA (M. Cox) was inclined to lay in throughout the event, and as a result was unable to be fully tested by it’s rider over the final 200m.
CHIEF CHARGINGBEAR (B. Derbyshire) raced wide the majority of the event.
Race 5: Crow FM 90.7 Mayor’s Red Earth Flood Appeal / SBRC Class 2 Handicap 1600m
1st – Crown News 2nd- Crazy Ways 3rd- Taystar 4th- Gold Record
PROMISE ACT (R. Kerwin) was slow to begin.
Approaching the home turn, BONNAY FLYER (M. Cox) had to be momentarily steadied from the heels of CROWN NEWS (T. Banks), which shifted out to obtain clear running. T. Banks was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
TAYSTAR (C. Jokic), GOLD RECORD (I. Coombes) and BONNAY FLYER all raced wide the majority of the event.
GOLD RECORD bled from both nostrils for the first occasion during the running of this event. Trainer K. Hamilton was advised that the gelding will now be barred from racing for a period covered by 3 months, and must pass a 1000m gallop in front of a steward prior to being permitted to trial or race again.
Apprentice M. Cox reported that BONNAY FLYER returned to scale with it’s tongue over the bit and may have choked down during the running of the event.
Stewards sought an explanation from D. McIntosh regarding BACKSTREET JACK, which performed below market expectations. D. McIntosh stated that the gelding travelled well until the 600m, however failed to respond to his riding from this point onwards. He further added that there did not appear to be anything amiss with the gelding, and that it had performed in a similar manner at its previous start at Dalby. Stewards noted the explanation.
