Race 1: Clifton Jockey Club Class 1 H’cap - 1400m
1st – Shumie Go 2nd – Shovnco 3rd – Sars Mario 4th – Village Command
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow app jockey N Nishio the rider of the second placegetter SHOVNCO to view the photo finish. Stewards declared correct weight on the judge numbers.
LIFE TO THE MAX (A Smith) was slow into stride.
POLYRHYTHM (N Tomizawa) jumped awkwardly out at the start.
VILLAGE COMMAND (K Collins) had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.
Over the concluding stages SOFEGE (L McCoy) was held up for clear running.
Race 2: Clifton Real Estate Class B H’cap - 1000m
1st – Sequalo Gold 2nd – Fluggles 3rd – Langelinie 4th – Hi Hi
ICY BREEZE once placed in the barrier became very fractious, rearing and pinning jockey M Dorrington on the back gates. ICY BREEZE was a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1.27pm. Trainer A Jeynes was advised that ICY BREEZE must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to it’s next race start. All monies invested on ICY BREEZE were to be refunded with deductions of SEQUALO GOLD 5 cents for the place. FLUGGLES 3 cents for the place. LANGELINIE 5 cents for the place. M Dorrington was examined by the ambulance officer and was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
Shortly after the start ISABELLA ESTHER hung out badly. Trainer P Sexton will be advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for her racing manners.
SEQUALO GOLD (M O’Brien jumped out at the start making contact with LANGELINIE (J Letherby).
MADE ‘N’ READY (J McKinnon) shifted in after the start and LANGELINIE shifted out resulting in HI HI (W Clasohm) having to be steadied.
Race 3: Yalumba Wines Qtis Maiden Plate Plate - 1100m
1st – Flying Heart 2nd – Beerallround 3rd – Tisani Lad 4th – Noble Blood
ROSCITY (J Letherby) jumped awkwardly in at the start making contact with TISANI LAD (R Ride), shortly after the incident ROSCITY shifted out making contact with MASTER FARALON (L McCoy).
NOBLE BLOOD (M O’Brien) had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the race.
Race 4: Pursehouse Rural Qtis Maiden Plate - 1100m
1st – Stand ‘N’ Stare 2nd – Footrot Flats 3rd – Zaharm 4th – Maple Lily
ETCHED IN GLASS was a late scratching at 8.54am acting on vet advice. Trainer W Baker will be advised that he must produce a vets certificate prior to it’s next start.
Trainer M Simpson presented BLUEGRASS ROCKSTAR (W Clasohm) to the enclosure with blinkers and a tongue tie on. Stewards will contact RISA in regards to the gear not being placed on the gelding. Trainer M Simpson stated that she had sent the required information on line.
Declaration of correct weight was delayed, for rider A Smith (HOT HOUSE ROSE) to view the film to ascertain whether HOT HOUSE ROSE was afforded a fair start. After viewing the film stewards declared correct weight.
HOT HOUSE ROSE was slow into stride then after leaving the 800m had to be eased from the heels of BRIDAL CHIMES (J Johnson)
Race 5: Pacific Seeds Clifton Cup Open H’cap - 1400m
1st – Final Opinion 2nd – Whydidyouleaveme 3rd – The Bargain & Uncle Jan (dead heat)
FARMER DON (J Warrington) was presented to the enclosure with blinkers on. Trainer S Andrews had stated that FARMER DON had raced in blinkers at his last start. Stewards will view the film of his last start to ascertain whether FARMER DON had raced in blinkers.
CATALLION (K Collins) jumped awkwardly and failed to run on. Trainer T Bailey advised stewards that the gelding whenever travelling away from the Gold Coast fails to run on.
Race 6: Felton Produce Maiden Plate – 1580m
1st - Diamond Silk 2nd – Taimazov Truffel 3rd – Private Bounty 4th – Money In Hand
SKYSTEP (S Apthorpe) was slow into stride.
