RACE 1: PRESIDANT’S CLASS A H’CAP – 1000m
Both THINK UNDER and EMMA’S EXPRESS dipped and lost ground on jumping.
BEAT THE GUN, which was slow to begin, raced erratically throughout and was inclined to climb in the sandy going.
DUFFIELD’S DANE was forced to ease from the heels of FALCON’S BLUE, leaving the 800m.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ROLLING REALITY trainer W Baker stated that he had not planned on starting the horse after the last start win, however had entered the filly as an after thought. Mr Baker further stated that the filly would now be spelled. Rider J Baker stated that the horse had been inclined to hang out making the first turn and had not settled well during the race. A post race veterinary exam of ROLLING REALITY found the horse to have suffered a slight laceration to the mouth in running.
RACE 2: WALLY MCLENNAN’S CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200m
ELEGANT CHOICE was slow to begin.
PROVINCE dipped and lost ground on jumping.
VIA DANTE shifted out at the start hampering KRUGER’S GIFT out onto the heels of SLY TYCOON.
VIA DANTE raced erratically during the early stages.
RACE 3: A.P.I. CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200m
Both GEBRSELASSIE and CASSIAR shifted in shortly after the start hampering CIPOLLINI, which lost ground.
Jockey J Baker the rider of YOUTHFUL LODGER reported that he felt that the mare had swallowed her tongue making the home turn and had recommended to the connections that the horse race in a tongue-tie in future.
RACE 4: POST-TEL OPEN H'CAP – 1400m
MACROSTRIKE was extremely slow to begin.
CHINA CONSUL was slow to begin.
RACE 5: JIM PUGSLEY MEMORIAL OPEN H'CAP – 800m
PALLADIO (NZ) dipped as the start was affected dislodging apprentice C Bryen.
Approaching the 400m, the rider less horse shifted out slightly hampering HEAVENLY CROWN.
The rider less horse shifted in over the concluding stages slightly hampering ALESSI.
ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
