SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
Trainer B Waldron reported to Stewards that MR DUBAI had bled from both nostrils following a track work gallop on 6-3-12 at the Roma Turf Club. Mr Waldron was advised that as this was the first occasion that MR DUBAI had bled from both nostrils that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and furthermore will be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to next racing.
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T Johnstone in relation to the late declaration of riders for CICERAO MOUNTAIN (Race1) and WARDEN BEN (Race 4).
RACE 1: WORC MAIDEN PLATE 800M-
1st-More Than Curly 2nd-Cicerao Mountain 3rd-Rejeal’s Honour 4th-Count Spur
Stewards permitted jockey W Doyle to ride PIPPA’S CALL 1kg overweight as there was no other rider available.
REJEAL’S HONOUR (C Bryen) was reluctant to proceed to the barriers.
COUNT SPUR (D Rewald) blundered on jumping away.
HALFBACK KID (W Glass) blundered at the start and shifted in making contact with RAJEAL’S HOUNOUR.
HALFBACK KID raced wide throughout.
RACE 2: MURWEH SHIRE COUNCIL OPEN H’CAP 1000M-
1ST-Montanus 2nd-Lucky Duke 3rd-Schmoo 4th-The Chanster
Due a race book printing error the start time for this race was incorrectly displayed as 2:40pm when in fact the correct starting time was 2:30pm. An announcement to this effect was made on the public address system.
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer J Patterson for the late notification of the gear change of a tongue tie for his runner THE CHANSTER.
THE CHANSTER (W Glass) began very awkwardly losing ground.
LUCKY DUKE (W Doyle) jumped with its head in the air.
SCHMOO (S Galvin) hung out throughout resulting in its jockey being unable to fully test the gelding over the concluding stages of the event.
RACE 3: ELMES CONSTRUCTION CLASS 3 PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Regal Prince 2nd-Zandaful 3rd-Anabird 4th-Al Dente
AL DENTE (C Maund) and CAFÉ GRANDE (R Faehr) both blundered on jumping away.
AL DENTE over-raced in the early stages and near the 1100m was forced to be eased from the heels of ZANDAFUL (W Glass).
ANABIRD (S Galvin) raced ungenerously with its head in the air for a short distance near the 800m.
Stewards questioned trainer P Kendall in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of TIZ COREY. Ms Kendall expressed disappointment with the geldings performance today, however she did advise that in her opinion the horse is better suited when able to obtain a more forward position in running. Ms Kendall further advised that the gelding was having its first start in her care today and would gain a fitness improvement following its first up run today. Stewards noted the explanation
RACE 4: BROLGA CONTRACTING CLASS H’CAP 1000M-
1st-Secrets Revealed 2nd-What Do You Want 3rd-Currawee Lass 4th-No Other Way
DESERT PLAYBOY (R Kerwin) was slow to begin.
SECRETS REVEALED (W Glass) jumped out at the start making contact with DHACOURT (C Maund) which in turn shifted out making contact with RUSTIK CONNECTIONS (S McCullum) which became unbalanced.
NO OTHER WAY (D Rewald) raced wide throughout.
Stewards questioned trainer M Goodwin and jockey C Maund in relation to the disappointing performance of DHACOURT. Both Jockey Maund and Mr Goodwin expressed disappointment with the performance of DHACOURT and the only tangible explanation they could offer was that the gelding resented the kickback off the track when racing back in the field. Mr Goodwin further advised that he will look to race the gelding in races over further distances than today’s event when reviewing where to start the gelding in the future. Stewards noted the explanations.
RACE 5: ST MARY’S CLASS 5 H’CAP 1000M-
1ST-Bonza Bronze 2nd-Prince Of Monaco 3rd-You Little Pearler 4th-Sand Ruler
SAND RULER (W Glass) blundered on jumping away.
CHOSEN KING (W Doyle) which was slow to begin was further hampered at the start by ANNETTE’S PUMPKIN (C Bryen) which shifted in.
Shortly after the start PRINCE OF MONACO (R Kerwin) was tightened for room between I’M THE ONE (C Maund) and BONZA BRONZE (S McCullum) which shifted in. App. McCullum was advised to exercise more care.
Both App S McCullum and R Faehr (YOU LITTLE PEARLER) were reprimanded for striking their respective mounts on 6 occasions with the whip in the forehand manner prior to the 100m.
