GENERAL REPORT
Stewards accepted the explanation of trainers Rod Cloherty, Ron Higginbotham, and Denis Otago for the late declaration of riders.
Race 1: CLASS B HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
1st MISS ANITORES 2nd MAGIC WALTZ 3rd HEARTY CLANG 4th- OAKFIELD COUNT
The start of race 1 was delayed 10 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance.
As the start was effected, ROSIE THE MAID (N Patchett) jumped outwards and bumped SASCHA’S SPIRIT (M Evans).
OAKFIELD COUNT (App S Cooke) was slow into stride.
HER DIAMONDS (App S McCullum) was slow to jump and failed to show any early speed.
OAKFIELD COUNT (App S Cooke) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: QTIS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
1st ZAHA ROYALE 2nd GOODNESS GRACIOUS 3rd ROYAL FUSILIER 4th- FOREBODING
KOUMALA JACK (App S Cooke) proved difficult to load and as result trainer John Manzelmann was advised that a warning would placed on the horse.
HOUDINI GIRL (App S McCullum) proved difficult to load and as result trainer Denis Otago was advised that a warning would placed on the horse.
HOUDINI GIRL (App S McCullum) was slow to jump and raced wide throughout.
ONE TO FEAR (N Patchett) raced wide throughout.
Jockey Michael Evans (ROYAL FUSILIER) pleaded guilty to a charge issued by Stewards under the terms of AR137(b) for failing to ride his mount out over the concluding stages. In considering penalty Stewards took in consideration jockey Evans’ good record over a considerable period of time he has been licensed as a jockey and that this was his first offence under this rule. Stewards deemed an appropriate penalty to be a fine of $150.
Race 3: CLASS 3 PLATE (1200 METRES)
1st–TIS AWESOME 2nd – ALL TO ADVANCE 3rd BAROQUE STAR 4th- HELP ME RHONDA
BAROQUE STAR (App S McCullum) was slow into stride.
ALL TO ADVANCE (D Simmons) raced wide throughout.
On returning to scale jockey D Simmons reported he had concerns that ALL TO ADVANCE was sore in the off foreleg. A subsequent veterinary inspection was unable to observe any obvious abnormalities.
Race 4: CLERMONT CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
1st MONTANUS 2nd TROPIS GEM 3rd MIDNIGHT HUSTLER 4th – MAFIA PRINCESS
Apprentice Steven Cooke was reprimanded by stewards for not taking his full claim.
Apprentice Steven Cooke was fined $100.00 under the terms of AR144 for failing to weigh in for 4th Place.
As the start was effected CRACK A SMILE (C Pye) jumped outwards and bumped MAFIA PRINCESS (App S Cooke).
No other racing incidents to report.
Race 5: CLASS B HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
1st MAJESTIC CHARMER 2nd TANMEYYA 3rd SIR IGOR 4th- RYTARGA
RYTARGA (N Patchett) was slow into stride.
SIR IGER (App S McCullum) began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start TANMEYYA (C Pye) put in several awkward strides then commenced to over race until approximately the 1100 metres.
ONE STOP (App S Cooke) raced wide throughout.
