RACE 1 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 6 STARTERS
When rounding the home turn, DINGLE DOOLIN (W. Kenning) made heavy contact with the inside running rail on its own accord, when the horse had a tendency to hang inwards at that point. No other racing incidents. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner L’ORACOLO and sent for analysis.

RACE 2 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 5 STARTERS
EMERALD OF FIRE was scratched after final acceptances. When a start was effected PRIMROSE STAR (M. Cummings) jumped inwards slightly forcing MAGIC GAME (Apprentice D.W. Ballard) in onto ENGLISH POET (NZ) (JC Esser) who was hampered momentarily for racing room. ENGLISH POET (NZ) (JC Esser) hung outwards off the track from the 700 metre mark to the winning post. On returning to scale, it was noted by the Stewards that LUBERTUS (K. Ballard) had cast its near side hind racing plate in running. The Stewards informed Mr. DJ Wright the trainer of ENGLISH POET (NZ) that they were issuing a final warning on that gelding’s racing manners in respect to its continuing to hang outwards in races and that he take appropriate measure in this regard for the horse to race in a desired manner in future. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner NEAT ‘N’ TIDY and sent for analysis.

RACE 3 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 7 STARTERS
CRAFTY LAD (K. Ballard) had difficulty obtaining clear running shortly after entering the home straight. It was noted by Stewards that both DW Ballard) were trapped wide on the track for almost the entire AIR SHUTTLE (Ms D. Slack-Smith) and SAYID (Apprentice re race. No other incidents. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner STRONG ACE and sent for analysis.
JOHN BULLEY MEMORIAL
RACE 4 CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 METRES 6 STARTERS
GLUTTON was scratched after final acceptances. When a start was effected CHASMA CHAN (Apprentice L. Attard) stood flat footed, resulting in the horse being very slow into stride, subsequently the horse lost a considerable amount of ground. No other racing incidents. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner HUE AND CRY and sent for analysis.

RACE 5 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
When a start was effected STRATHGAR (Ms D. Slack-Smith) lost some ground due to the horse being a fraction slow into stride. BIONIC BLETCH (JC Esser) returned to the saddling enclosure riderless following the event when the horse appeared very lame in front. A veterinary examination by the Club Veterinary Surgeon revealed that the horse had tendon damage to its near side front leg region. Stewards took no action to place an embargo on the horse when its trainer Mr. JA Swift informed them that the horse would now be retired from racing. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner THE INSPECTOR and sent for analysis.

RACE 6 WEIGHT FOR AGE 1400 METRES 6 STARTERS
No racing incidents in running. A routine swab sample was obtained from the race winner TDANZA’S PRIDE and sent for analysis.
GENERAL: All horses that competed at the meeting were inspected and identified.
BOOKMAKERS: 4 Bookmakers fielded at the meeting: P. Couper, R. Foley, G. Saunders and G. Strang
TOTAL STARTERS: 40 Horses started at the meeting.
