CLONCURRY AND DISTRICT RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 18/5/02

STEWARDS PANEL: C J Waters (Chairman), Ms G McHugh (Cadet)

WEATHER – Fine . TRACK: - Fast RAIL –True

RACE 1: MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

SOMA TIME JAZZ was slow into stride.

RACE 2: CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

GRAND CHAPTER was very slow into stride. DINGLE DOOLIN hung outwards from the 800 metre mark to the entrance to the home straight.

RACE 3: class 6 handicap – 1200 METRES

RECOMMEND was very slow into stride.

RACE 4: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Jockey A Spradau replaced I Coombes as the rider for NIGHTSTICK when Jockey Coombes was indisposed. BLESS YOU was a fraction slow into stride.

RACE 5: WEIGHT FOR AGE – 1200 METRES

ARGOLD was scratched after final acceptances. Jockey m Campbell replaced I Coombes as the rider for GAME ‘N’ VAIN. Jockey Coombes will be required to provide a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again. Prior to correct weight, the stewards questioned Jockey K Ballard the rider of SURFBOARD, the Club starter Mr + A Daniels and viewed the head on patrol film of the start, to establish wether SURFBOARD had been denied a fair start.. It was established that the horses barrier stall clearly did not open in unison with all other runners when a start was effected. After due deliberation, Stewards declared the horse to be a non-runner under the terms of AR 134A, and that the horse was denied a fair start. Subsequently the horse was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards an prior to Correct Weight, stewards ordered all monies wagered on the withdrawn horse to be refunded, with betting deduction of .67c Win and .41c Place on all winning bets. Apprentice DW Ballard, the rider of the race winner LORD DENTATA (NZ) was charged and found guilty with a breach of the rules under the terms of AR 137 (c) in that he made a celebratory gesture prior to his mount passing the winning post. App Ballard pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $50.

RACE 6: FOSSIL TRAIL SERIES CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

LIVE IN FAITH was slow into stride. Jockey M Campbell the rider of TYKE MY SON dropped his whip at the 200 metre mark. Routine random swab samples were obtained from both the second placegetter TYKE MY SON and the third placegetter ARRAIGN.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
