Race 1: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC MAIDEN PLATE. Two Year Old & Up – Set Weights). 6 Starters

EARLY EXIT (A. Spradau) was a late scratching from this event at 1.40pm after the gelding became unruly after entering out onto the track and dislodging the rider. Subsequently, Trainer W. CROSSLAND, was advised that EARLY EXIT must perform a pre race test suitable to Stewards under race day conditions before again being allowed to start in a race. On the declaration of correct weight all winning bets were ordered to be paid with deductions of $0.09cents for the win and $0.11cents for the place on the face value of the ticket.

When questioned regarding the performance of BERRICO CHRIS, D. Ballard stated that the gelding was unable to muster early speed and as a result settled further back then anticipated. D. Ballard further added that he was forced wider rounding the home turn and in his opinion was looking for further then today’s distance.

A post race veterinary examination of THE BREWSTER revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg and foot. Trainer Mr P. Inwood was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to racing again.

Race 2: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC CLASS 5 HANDICAP - Distance - 1000m. 6 Starters
1st - PRESSURE’S ON 2nd - FABRIC OF DREAMS 3rd - PERIANDER 4th - MINER’S GHOST


FLAG PARTY (T. Brummell) was slow to begin.

FLAG PARTY (T. Brummell) and EQUIVOCAL (D. Ballard) raced wide throughout the event.


Race 3: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC OPEN HANDICAP Distance - 1000m.
1st - AUSSIE ROCK 2nd - PEAYE ARJAY 3rd - BRASS CUTTER
4th - DOUBLE DIP

CENTGEORGE was declared a late withdrawal at 9.20am due to transport difficulties.

Trainer P. Inwood was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Apprentice S. Mossman as the rider RAINBOW RAIDER.

AUSSIE ROCK (K. Ballard) began awkwardly and lost ground.

At the start, PEAYE ARJAY (D. Ballard) jumped in making contact with DOUBLE DIP (App S. McCullum) which was further taken in onto RAINBOW DANCER (App S. Mossman).

MILORA MAJOR (T. Brummell) and BRASS CUTTER (T. Hill) both hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 4: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC Class “B”
HANDICAP Distance - 1200m. 6 Starters
1st - BRAWLED 2nd - GALAXY GOLD 3rd - COL’S JEUNE
4th - PUFFED

Near the 800m, COL’S JEUNE (T. Brummell) had to be steadied when tightened for room between BRAWLED (D. Ballard) and THEITALIANSTALLION (App S. McCullum) which shifted out. Apprentice S. McCullum was reprimanded and advised ensure sufficient racing room when shifting ground in similar circumstances.


Race 5: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC HANDICAP – CLASS “3” PLATE B Distance - 1200m. 5 Starters
1st - CHEAP AND NASTY 2nd - MR BLONDE 3rd - NASHUA GOLD
4th - SHOVE IT

Stewards permitted A. Spradau to ride CHEAP AND NASTY 0.5kg overweight as no other rider was available. At a subsequent inquiry A. Spardau was fined the sum of $200 under AR120(b).

At the start, NASHUA GOLD (K. Ballard) jumped in making contact with MR BLONDE (D. Ballard).
