Race 1: CUDECO LIMITED SPORT OF KINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m:
1st –DANCING DUO 2nd – CASHEL GEMSTONE 2nd – SOLARMAN 4th -- RAGING FORTIES
CLASSIC CADILLAC was declared a late scratching as no jockey was available.
A. Spradau was permitted to ride COOL AS CLANG ½ kilogram overweight as there was no other rider available.
DANCING DUO (W. D’Avila) broke through the barriers prior to the start and was quickly restrained, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
FREE DEAL (K. Ballard) had a tendency to lay in for the majority of the race.
COOL AS CLANG (A. Spradau) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
JAGAW (D. Jones) raced wide from the home turn.
Race 2: CLONCURRY & DISTRICT RACE CLUB INC. CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m:
1ST – SHOVNCO 2nd – DESTINY EXPREESS 3rd – MISS TOBOUGG 4th – DUCHENNE
COGNAC DIAMOND was declared a late scratching as no suitable jockey was available.
D. Ballard was permitted to rider FREAKISH 1 ½ kilogram overweight as no other suitable rider was available.
K. Ballard was declared as the rider of MISS TOBOUGG. The explanation tendered by Trainer K. Miller for the late declaration of rider was accepted.
No incidents in running.
Race 3: ERNEST HENRY MINING CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200m:
1st –STELLAR SHOW 2nd – HE’S A HOOT 3rd – EUROS 4th – KOMO LAD
A. Spradau was permitted to ride EUROS 3 ½ Kilograms overweight as there were no other rider available.
PRINCE OF YODELLS (D. Jones) jumped away awkwardly.
SUPER STROP (W. D’Avila) hung out rounding the home turn and forced PARTY CHARTER (S. Mossman), which had travelled wide throughout, wider on the track.
Race 4: CUDECO LIMITED CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400m:
1st – D’LORDSON 2nd – ZERO SUSPICION 3rd -- STARK RAVEN 4th – COL’S JEUNE
COL’S JEUNE (S. Mossman) was fractious in the barriers.
Approaching the 650m BRAVE CLANG (M. Cummings) was pulled out of the race after suffering a severe injury to the left fore fetlock. Due to the severity of the injury and acting on the advice of the veterinary surgeon BRAVE CLANG was euthanized on humane grounds. D’LORDSON (D. Ballard) which was following had to be severely checked, who in turn slightly hindered STARK RAVEN (K. Ballard)
BLICKEM (T. Hill) raced ungenerously throughout.
Race 5: CUDECO LIMITED OPEN HANDICAP 1400m:
1st – PIT LANE 2nd – ST LOUIS BLUE 3rd – SOOTH SAYER 4th -- ABSOLUTE TRUTH
T. Hill replaced M. Cummings as the rider of SOOTH SAYER.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH (A. Spradau) was tightened for room between FAT POSSUM (D. Ballard) and ST LOUIS BLUE (K. Ballard) which both began awkwardly and shifted ground.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH (A. Spradau) hung out rounding the home turn.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of FAT POSSUM, Jockey D. Ballard stated that the gelding missed some important lead up work when stranded in Birdsville due to heavy rains. Jockey Ballard was of the belief that the gelding would benefit from today’s run however, did express his disappointment in the performance of FAT POSSUM. Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
