GENERAL

Stewards approved the following rider overweights:

Race 1: NELLYATION – J. Edwards - + 0.5kg
Race 2: BUBBLE BATH – J. Baker - +2kg

Race 1: MCQUEEN EARTHMOVING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE
2-Y-O & Up 1000m

Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the photo finish for 1st place. Once satisfied, correct weight was declared on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.

ZOUFIRE – Slow to begin.

CHILLI CREAM – Began awkwardly.

DON’TSTOPLAUGHING – Restrained shortly after the start to take up a position closer to the rail.

A COUNTRY KID – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

NELLYATION - Permission was granted for Apprentice J. Edwards to ride +0.5kg over the allocated weight and claim 0kg her full 3kg allowance as there was no other rider available. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, Apprentice J. Edwards stated that her mount struggled to make the home turn and raced greenly over the concluding stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Hung out rounding the home turn. In the vicinity of the 300m, elected to shift out to gain clear running.



Race 2: TROPIC PETROLEUM BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000m

The running of this race was delayed by 4 mins owing to SKOOZI’S FLYER needing to be resaddled behind the barriers.


BELLOFTHEHUNTER – Slow to begin.

HOLTERMANN – Raced wide without cover for the majority. In vicinity of the 200m was obliged to ease off the heels of MAKUBA who was laying out as VALIANT KNIGHT momentarily rolled in. Jockey K. Ballard rider of MAKUBA was reprimanded pursuant AR131(a) and was advised to take greater care when allowing his mount to shift ground.

VALIANT NIGHT – Raced wide with cover over the middle stages. In the vicinity of the 200m momentarily rolled in.

MISS MIRACULOUS – In the vicinity of the 200m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of SKOOZI’S FLYER who was racing ungenerously and laid in. Jockey J. Babarovich, rider of SKOOZI’S FLYER was severely reprimanded pursuant AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.

REAL EMPRESS – Slow to begin.

SKOOZI’S FLYER – Jockey J. Babarovich reported at scale that his mount raced ungenerously throughout. In the vicinity of the 200m, shifted in under pressure.

MAKUBA – Awkward to begin. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

BUBBLE BATH - Trainer J. Bawden was reprimanded under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider for the mare. Jockey J. Baker reported that his mount began awkwardly and was tightened for running room at the start.

Race 3: CORELLA CATTLE COMPANY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m

THE BROTHERHOOD – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

NEW YORK WORLD – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority.

SHARPAY RULER – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.


Race 4: BRODIE AGENCIES CORFIELD CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m

Prior to the running of this race, it was established that FLAMING TORCH had been incorrectly presented as DARK ARCHER. After realizing the error the correct horse DARK ARCHER was presented to star. Trainer R. Hermann was found guilty pursuant AR99(b) in that he failed to ensure that the correct horse was presented to start in the event. Trainer R. Hermann issued a $500 fine

GRAND PALAZZO – Slow into stride. Raced wide without cover throughout.

ANCIENT ECHOES – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

DARK ARCHER – Shift out abruptly on jumping away. Shifted out abruptly again in the vicinity of the 200m.

ZOOMARATTA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

DANAWI – Raced wide without cover for the majority. When questioned in regard to the gelding’s poor performance in today’s event, Jockey D. Smith stated that in his opinion the gelding had reached the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

ALBERT THE ROCKET - Trainer J. Bawden was reprimanded under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider for the gelding.

After the running of this race evidence was taken from the starter J. Godfrey and Jockey M. Gray regarding the winner GRAND PALAZZO racing in pre-race ear muffs. Both were reprimanded pursuant AR227(1)(a) in that they were negligent in failing to ensure that pre-race ear muffs were removed at the start.


Race 5: NORTHERN RURAL GROUP BRACELET BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400m

HEZAGEM – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

JAKAZONE – Slow to begin.

ALL AT SEA – Laid in over the concluding stages.

MISHANI REBOUND – Awkward to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

SNIPPY STRATEGIC – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities/

Race 6: COFFISON & SONS FUEL CLASS B HANDICAP 800m

GREAT IAM – Approaching the 100m was obliged to shift to the outside of HAVEABEERFORTED who laid in under pressure in the straight. Jockey K. Ballard was advised exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

FIELD OF RED – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

HAVEABEERFORTED – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

FRANLIN RIVER – Slow into stride.
