RACE ONE Class 3 Handicap 950 Metres 4 Starters
As the gates opened PORTRAIT MISS (B.Corbett) was slow into galloping action. SPRING REGENT (App L.Buckingham) jumped outwards as the gates opened.
RACE TWO Class 5 Handicap 950 Metres 3 Starters
Jockey D.Canny was the replacement rider for ROCKFORD (B.Corbett) when the declared rider failed to make the allotted weight. Jockey Corbett was subsequently reprimanded under the terms of Ar120(b). SUSIE QUE (R.Ryan) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected.
RACE THREE Class 1 Handicap 1200 Metres 4 Starters
Jockey D.Canny was admonished for allowing his mount LAWREY’S BELLOTTO to shift inwards at the 1000mtr mark and hamper the running of MILLIE’S BID (App L.Buckingham).
RACE FOUR Open Handicap 1200 Metres 6 Starters
Apprentice L.Buckingham was reprimanded for allowing her mount BE EARLY to shift inwards at the 950mtr mark of the event and hamper the running of MIGHTY PAYGO (R.Ryan). MIGHTY PAYGO (R.Ryan) was hampered over the concluding stages of the event when TRANSITORY (D.Dean) shifted inwards momentarily.
RACE FIVE Class 2 Handicap 950 Metres 12 Starters
As the gates opened LAUREN’S LUCK (App L.Buckingham) jumped outwards and made contact with STRICTLY JACK (I.Toward). SHANNON DRIVE (S.Roos) hung out badly for the entire journey of the event, Stewards informed Trainer F.Weiland that SHANNON DRIVE must now pass a barrier trial before being permitted to start again. Upon returning to scale Jockey D.Canny, the rider of SKYRAIL which was declared fifth by the judge, lodged a protest against WANDDINI (F.Edwards) being declared second by the judge. Jockey Canny also lodged a protest against AMARANTE (B.Corbett) being declared the winner of the event, both protest were lodged alleging interference over the concluding stages of the event. After taking evidence from the riders involved and from the connections of the horses involved, Stewards dismissed both protest and declared correct weight on the judges placings. Stewards deemed that Jockey Canny’s protest against WANDDINI (F.Edwards) was of a frivolous nature and charged Jockey Canny with a breach of Ar165(3) and imposed a penalty of $50. At a subsequent inquiry it was deemed that the interference suffered to SKYRAIL (D.Canny) over the concluding stages was as a result of both AMARANTE (B.Corbett) and STRICTLY JEWELS (D.Philpot) shifting ground marginally.
RACE SIX Maiden Handicap 950 Metres 11 Starters
JIM’S KNIGHT (App L.Buckingham) jumped outwards as the gates opened and hung outwards for the early and middle stages of the event. SMOKEN TOKEN (I.Coombes) raced very ungenerously throughout the event.
