WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: BARRIER REEF ROOM MAIDEN PLATE H'CAP – 1200M

MR. TATTA jumped out at the start minor contact with ANOTHER BLETCH


RACE 2: CANNON FAMILY CLASS 4 H'CAP – 950M

POLISH COUNT blundered badly at the start losing ground.
GAME DEFECTS travelled wide entire of race.


RACE 3: AUTAMN CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1200M

IRUKA made home turn wide and then was inclined to lay in over concluding stages of race.


RACE 4: TOTEM STAR SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES THREE-YEARS-OLD CLASS 1 H'CAP – 950M

On return to scale a protest was lodged by K Rockett, the rider of 4th placegetter STRICTLY JACK, against I’M A WARRIOR (D Crossland) being declared 3rd placegetter and ROSS RHYTHM (S Morris) being declared the winner, alleging interference approaching the winning post. It was established that over the concluding stages ROSS RHYTHM shifted in under pressure but STRICTLY JACK did not lose the margin of over a length that he was beaten . It was established that over the concluding stages I’M A WARRIOR was taken out by BOB’S COUNTY. Stewards however dismissed both objections given the margin separating both horses at the finish.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by D Crossland, the rider of 3rd placegetter I’M A WARRIOR, against BOB’S COUNTY (L Critoph) being declared 2nd placegetter, alleging interference at the 150m. It was established that at the 150m mark BOB’S COUNTY shifted in causing I’M A WARRIOR to check and shift out away off BOB’S COUNTY’S heels. Bearing in mind the margin of ½ a length which separated both horses at the finish, stewards upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:

1st 9 ROSS RHYTHM
2nd 2 I’M A WARRIOR
3rd 3 BOB’S COUNTY

After leaving the 850m SLICK SLOT shifted in and I’M A WARRIOR shifted out causing CHELSEA’S BOY and NEW YORK ROCKET to be check

L Critoph, the rider of BOB’S COUNTY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 150m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of I’M A WARRIOR causing that horse to be checked. L Critoph was suspended from riding in races from midnight 9th March 2002 up to and including 21st March 2002 a period covered by 2 meetings.


RACE 5: CAIRNS JOCKEY CLUB OPEN H'CAP – 950M

A Stewart was indisposed and replaced by J Stopps on COOL AND REGAL.
PROFLIGATE shifted out over concluding stages of race, it was brought to the attention of App C Lee.
Cloning shifted in over the concluding stages of race.


RACE 6: SLY LOOK CLASS 2 H'CAP – 950M

FLASH MUSIC was a late scratching at 12.35 p.m. when the horse would not load on the float.
FINALLY FAME jumped in the air at the start losing ground.
FREE WORLD was slow in to stride.
CELESTAMOR jumped in the air at the start.
PICCADILLY GIRL and LOYALIST shifted out over concluding stages of race.




ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
