Race 1: FNQ HOSPITAL FOUNDATION CLASS B HANDICAP 1400M
1st – HEZA RULLAH 2nd – DEENLESTER 3rd – TAUNUS 4th – CASH CONTENDER
At the start, REPENT (M. Atkinson) jumped out and made contact with DEENLESTER (S. Morris).
REPENT (M. Atkinson) raced wide during the early and middle stages of the event.
CROSS MEDIA (App M. Milford) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 2: BE AIR CLASS 2 HANDICAP 960M
1st – GENERAL VANDAL 2nd – TOP ROSS 3rd – NINETY DEGREES 4th – FRANKLIYEV
GENERAL VANDAL (S. Morris) and BRAVE THE BOSS (App M. Milford) bumped on jumping away.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GENERAL WEILAND, G. Kliese stated that the could offer no tangible excuse for the performance other then the gelding may have failed to carry the weight. G. Kliese further added that he was still disappointed with the way the gelding performed. A post race veterinary examination of GENERAL WEILAND failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Race 3: FOWLERS GROUP OPEN HANDICAP 960M
1st – HOSTILITY 2nd – CARRY ON ACE 3rd – TESTIFY 4th – MIND THE MONEY
CARRY ON ACE (S. Morris) was slow to begin.
Race 4: IDEAL ELECTRICAL SUPPLIERS CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600M
1st – GREAT PORTENT 2nd – DESTINED TO REIGN 3rd – YOUWANNAKNOW 4th – LUCKY RULER
Correct weight was delayed to allow G. Kliese the rider of 2nd placegetter DESTINED TO REIGN to see if he had grounds to lodge an objection against GREAT PORTENT being placed 1st on the grounds of the use of whip used by J. Murphy. After viewing the films G. Kliese did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared.
GREAT PORTENT (J. Murphy) was slow to begin.
Race 5: REALTY TECH CLASS 3 PLATE 1250M
1st – GENERAL SPARK 2ND – NOBLEPRICE 3rd – GYPSY MIST 4th – GLOBAL SPIN
Near the 800m, MATAMORE (M. Atkinson) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROBIN THE HOOD (App M. Milford) which shifted in slightly. Apprentice M. Milford was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
MATAMORE (M. Atkinson) and ROBIN THE HOOD (App M. Milford) both raced wide throughout the event.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BAR BENDER, K. Rockett stated that after beginning well the gelding showed no early pace and settled back in the field as expected. K. Rockett further added that he was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event and when placed under pressure from near the 500m BAR BENDER commenced to weaken and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of BAR BENDER failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
