Race 1: CCW Cabinet Works Class 2 Handicap – 960 metres
1st – What Say You 2nd – Dance Ducey Dance 3rd - Crestar 4th – Young Gunz
YOUNG GUNZ (B. Swaffer) jumped awkwardly as the start was affected.
Stewards questioned apprentice B. Swaffer and trainer T. Rowe in relation to the riding tactics adopted on YOUNG GUNZ particularly the early stages of the race. Apprentice Swaffer stated that he had been instructed to ride YOUNG GUNZ just off the speed with cover, which he was able to do however, the gelding began to race ungenerously. Mr Rowe confirmed the instructions and conceded that Apprentice Swaffer may have overly restrained YOUNG GUNZ in the early stages of the event. Stewards agreed with Mr Rowe and advised Apprentice Swaffer that in the circumstances he would have been better suited allowing YOUNG GUNZ to stride forward of its own accord once he was able to obtain the required position instead of continuing to restrain the gelding.
T. Rowe, the trainer of MISS FLOOZY, reported that he was disappointed mare’s performance and that it would be sent for a spell.
Race 2: Harry Hillier Memorial QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate – 960 metres
1st – Speed Dragon 2nd – General Beejay 3rd – Track Action 4th – Bar Attack
TRACK ACTION (M. Atkinson) stood flat footed as the start and lost considerable ground.
LIVING ON DREAMS (W. D’Avila) jumped awkwardly as the start was affected causing some inconvenience to SPEED DRAGON (I. Toward).
TRACK ACTION (M. Atkinson) raced fiercely in the early stages and had to be eased off the heels of LIVING ON DREAMS (W D’Avila) near the 700m.
TRACK ACTION (M. Atkinson) shifted out to improve near the 400m causing some inconvenience to BAR ATTACK (S. Kaya). Jockey Atkinson was reprimand for failing to ensure he was sufficiently clear when shifting ground. In considering penalty Stewards were mindful of TRACK ATCTION’s racing manners leading up to the incident.
Race 3: Bugeja Earthmoving Class B Handicap – 1250 metres
1st – Red for Go 2nd – Mr Door 3rd – Kandee Queen 4th – She Keeps Me Busy
BREEZIN’ (J. Stopps) reared as the start was affected and raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. Connections advised that BREEZIN’ would be sent for a spell.
RED FOR GO (W. A’vila) reared at the start and was then slow to begin.
When questioned as to the racing manners of SHE KEEPS ME BUSY, Jockey G. Kliese stated that SHE KEEPS ME BUSY resented racing in restricted room in the middle stages of the race and as such near the 800m and 700m began to race ungenerously when awkwardly placed at the heels of a runner forward of him.
Near the 400m CAPTAIN SIR (K. Rockett) was inconvenienced by BREEZIN’ (J. Stopps) which was racing ungenerously.
I. Toward the rider of SIX BOB reported that his saddle shifted at the 800 metre point of the race placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Race 4: IGA Bentley Village Maiden Plate - 1250 metres
1st – Hidden Manner 2nd – Faking 3rd – Fomaleyes 4th – Exciting Era
HIDDEN MANNER (G. Kliese) was slow to begin.
FOMALEYES (W. D’Avila) began awkwardly.
Race 5: Interline Class 5 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st – Startus 2nd – Baramul Bullet 3rd – De Ville 4th – What a Play
Jockey J. Stopps the rider of CYCLONE LARRY reported that his saddle slipped shortly after the start placing him at a disadvantage for the majority of the race.
