Stewards – H. Warren
Starter – P. Kennedy
Clerk of Scales – D. Hollis

Race 1: CCW Cabinet Works Class 2 Handicap – 960 metres
1st – What Say You 2nd – Dance Ducey Dance 3rd - Crestar 4th – Young Gunz

YOUNG GUNZ (B. Swaffer) jumped awkwardly as the start was affected.

Stewards questioned apprentice B. Swaffer and trainer T. Rowe in relation to the riding tactics adopted on YOUNG GUNZ particularly the early stages of the race. Apprentice Swaffer stated that he had been instructed to ride YOUNG GUNZ just off the speed with cover, which he was able to do however, the gelding began to race ungenerously. Mr Rowe confirmed the instructions and conceded that Apprentice Swaffer may have overly restrained YOUNG GUNZ in the early stages of the event. Stewards agreed with Mr Rowe and advised Apprentice Swaffer that in the circumstances he would have been better suited allowing YOUNG GUNZ to stride forward of its own accord once he was able to obtain the required position instead of continuing to restrain the gelding.

T. Rowe, the trainer of MISS FLOOZY, reported that he was disappointed mare’s performance and that it would be sent for a spell.

TRACK ACTION (M. Atkinson) shifted out to improve near the 400m causing some inconvenience to BAR ATTACK (S. Kaya). Jockey Atkinson was reprimand for failing to ensure he was sufficiently clear when shifting ground. In considering penalty Stewards were mindful of TRACK ATCTION’s racing manners leading up to the incident.
