OVERANGA (W. D’Avila) jumped out as the start was effected on to SARAH SARAH (M. Atkinson) who in turn bumped COURT AFFAIRE (S. Kaya) who bumped BUCASIA BEACH (J. Long).

HARRY THE WARRIOR (J. Stopps) was very slow to jump as the start was effected losing considerable ground as a result.

Stewards questioned Jockey F. Edwards (SPIRIT OF A DRAGON) and J. Long (BUCASIA BEACH) in relation to an incident at approximately the 400 metre mark when SPIRIT OF A DRAGON shifted in causing BUCASIS BEACH to be eased. Jockey Long explained that his mount raced very greenly having a tendency to hang in which may have contributed to SPIRIT OF A DRAGON shifting in. Jockey Edwards stated that his mount shifted in unexpectectly despite his efforts. From stewards observations and from viewing the film Jockey Edwards was advised that his riding was bordering on carelessness and a reprimand was issued.

Race 4: IGA Leukaemia Cup Open Handicap – 1250M
1st – Rothschild Lad 2nd – Released 3rd – Ready to Rise 4th – Fred the Legion

SAINTLY DANCER (J. Long) was very fractious in the barrier and reared when the start was effected. Trainer (O. Cairns) was advised that the onus was on her to ensure the horse performs in the desired manner in the future or the horse will be required to trial satisfactorily.

W. D’Avila) the rider of RELEASED reported that he lost his whip at approximated the 200 metre point putting him at a disadvantage over the concluding stages of the race.

1st – Grand Assassin 2nd – De Ville 3rd – Kandee Queen 4th – No Wonder

NORTHERN THEATRE was scratched by stewards at 15:30 due to no rider being available.

Connections of HITTAMAHOTTAMUS advised stewards that riding instruction given to the jockey of the horse (M. Atkinson) was to ride it out hands and heels with minimal use of the whip. The trainer was advised that was acceptable and that it would be expected to be similar in the future to ensure consistency.

HE’S SO TEMPTING (J. Long) jumped in as the start was effected causing some inconvenience to DE VILLE (J. Stopps).

Stewards questioned J. Long (HE’S SO TEMPTING) and B. Swaffer (GRAND ASSASSIN) in relation to an incident approaching the 400 metre point where HE’S SO TEMPTING lost ground. The film of the race was inconclusive as to the reason why and there were no stewards observations of the incident. Consequently no further action was taken.
